What game are you wasting time on?

Just finished The Witcher again. I didn't remember how annoying it was to have Geralt sheathe his sword all the freaking time (sometimes even while he's being charged by a monster). Not to mention all the fights that happen right after a FMV and usually start with said sword in its scabbard and several enemies at close range.

The first time I played, I mostly limited my use of magic to the sign of Aard (possibly because it made me feel like a Jedi). This time, I discovered the joy of spamming the sign of Igni at high level, which turned the epilogue into a complete walk in the park. Almost felt like cheating, really.

* Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow. Acceptable diversion.
* Saints Row The Third. More RPG than most and also fun.
* Star Wars: The Old Republic, Imperial Agent class, pay-to-sprint edition. Also an acceptable diversion.

And of course my neverending playthroughs of Quest for Glory. Currently at Shadows of Darkness with my paladin and immersing myself to every Erana dream and everytime Jennifer Hale says something. Pretty sure it's the lack of Hale in Dragon Fire that make me go for Erana.

a friend of mine gifted me anno 2070.
i loved 1404 but i couldn't give up to the uplay drm, i had my war and i stood my case for years.
then i lost, and damn, the game is good. a more complex anno with a sci-fi setting, i couldn't ask more.
still every night i wake up shouting and sweating because i let my nemesis win over my morals.
i'm a bad person. entertained, but a bad person.

Catching up with the newshit currently.

1) Completed Starcraft 2 - Sons of Fail (SP) - took me ~ half a year in small doses. Great example of current game design: banal, boring, pretentious, shallow gameplay (I was using like 5 units tops), no challenge, FMVs every 2 minutes, immature presentation and story, etc. etc.
And what's with leaving the core mechanics unchanged? After such games like DOW, COH, etc. SC2 looks like a graphical update to SC1. Fail.

My advice is to bump the difficulty to hard and speed to fastest.Your SC2 experience will see slight incline.;) Actually in all current games when you must choose diff go for hard at least,I guess hard is the new medium.
On topic,Tropico 4-what a great city builder!Getting it for 5€ on sale totally make up for the 3.5 feel at first, but after 4-5 missions you start to see that there is a lot more little details that make the game a proper sequel.Good job my fellow countrymen at Haemimont.:salute:

Looking forward to my 1st boss-fight (I've heard those are the shittiest parts of the game).

They're underrated; while not really in the spirit of the original Deus Ex, in-and-of-themselves, they're pretty fun IMO (final boss notwithstanding; that one blew ass). The Yelena Federova fight was slick. I just wish they were a bit more difficult.

Shittiest part is the last couple of missions when the game suddenly turns into a derpy zombie flick. Although the boss fight in the last couple of missions and 4-button ending takes the retardo-cake.

This x10.

As for the thread topic, I'm actually playing through Morrowind again (my second time; haven't touched it since I bought the GotY edition when it was fresh) with that "facelift" collection of mods; its a surprisingly handsome game, and the faces are way better than other Gamebryo "beautification" efforts I've seen. Plus, one of the female Breton faces is Olivia Wilde, so thats p. cool.

Unfortunately, player/npc/creature models still aren't capable of casting shadows, though. :(

Oh, and a side order of FTL.

Finished Dark Souls recently. It IS one of the best games in the recent years. No game other than Torment gave me so much...to think after finishing it. And definitely one of the few games that makes me wish I can brainwash myself so I can play it freshly all over again. And I feel sad that Dark Souls II changed the director...imminent suck ahead.

Finishing DS made me completely disinterested in other few games that I'm supposed to want to play. I wanted to replay Skyrim but now its combat, world design and NPC and immushon feel like a joke to me now. Seriously, DS makes all the other 3D medieval RPG completely pale in comparison one way or other: combat, world design, monster design, difficulty, atmosphere, etc.

No matter what I keep coming back to PDM in Vicky 2. Im beginning to think its modder rigged certain countries to fail based on personal biases.
What countries exactly?

Generally, pops go liberal fast and often.

Spain and the CSA are the most blatant.

Along with constantly losing 10:1 per battle with Lee and Jackson against the Union's worst generals slavery lasting until 1936 in a socialist CSA is hilariously bad. There's some interesting plausible event chains one could go with: CSA CAN NEVER EVER ABOLISH SLAVERY BECAUSE THEY'RE EVIL INCARNATE isn't one of them.

The War itself is named 'The War of Rebellion' in his mod. That's about as one-sided as it gets

Had the urge to install and play Planets Edge again. Anyone remembers it? One of my first RPG games ever. And one of my favourite oldies. Nice music and a effing dense atmosphere. Played it when I was 10 and it was almost overwhelming me with information, rather obscure gameplay mechanics and puzzles. Compared to things like the mass effect series shows that we indeed live in the age of decline.

Yeah, well the general trend is for pops to liberal. But it is completely possible to form a conservative-dominated republican government with predominantly conservative pops. I have a game as Peru-Bolivia, wherein the conservative Partido Popular never lose power except for a brief liberal interregnum after the assassination of the starting dictator (historically, Santa Cruz) and the formation of a republic. It is really cool having a conservative oligarchical republic in a world of liberal con monarchies/republics and conservative monarchies.

I wouldn't know about Spain and CSA though since I haven't played those countries. It would be very stupid if CSA cannot abolish slavery, the mod should have added event chains (with around 1890s as the latest), with corresponding militancy increases for cons and reactionaries. Even during the Civil war itself, they could make an event where CSA would free slaves for the purpose of conscripting them into war (Manpower increase and Afro-american soldier pops/regiments vs militancy increase cons/reactionaries or increased war exhaustion).

That's what I thought. Manumission was a dangerous necessity for national survival but it certainly was on the table, especially with foreign pressure.

I finally gave in trying to tweak it and went war-bent reactionary party, instead like Naselus wants

I've been playing Football Manager 2013 so much. I can't really think of many single-player games that I've wasted so much time on as the Football Manager series, and I don't even watch Football.

EASIER?? wtf dude.. also, what platform you play this on ? Palikka
Playing on MAME. By easier I dont mean easy, just easier than most of the CAVE stuff (Ketsui, DOJ, Pink Sweets, etc.) I guess there are few even easier 1CC's than DDP, such as Mushi Futari and Death Smiles, but DDP is generally recommended for the first CAVE shmup to tackle on.

Yeah, same here. It hasn't yet got to the point where the game starts invading your dreams, but I'm sure that'll happen at some point. It always does.

Just managed to end a terrible losing streak with USBCO in the French Ligue 2. Just one of those phases when everything goes wrong, your strikers couldn't score even if their lives depended on it and your goalie fucks up at the worst possible moments. At least I got a couple of landslide victories which hopefully fixed that. USBCO's a pretty fun team to manage because they have a great midfield consisting of a bunch of good young players, but it's still kind of a tough challenge since you have no money and it's impossible to stay within the budget unless you want to let all of your good players go. Still a refreshing change from managing the usual lower-tier British teams.
