Nah, I'm good. I read GLTs comment as he is as well. Haven't heard rashiakas complain in our planning thread either. :M

Yeah, I'm fine with it as well. Sorry if I came across as an aggressive dick, might have been the beer speaking.

No worries, I actually noticed that something was odd when the warhammer's heat dropped to 0 and looked but decided it was your decision. I guess my subconscious REALLY only thought 1 PPC was good.

Round 10 MOVEMENT (Closing for the kill, or walking into a trap?)

With half of team gold immobilized, movement was really a question of what Team blue wanted to do; and that was close to point blank range. While the Warhammer stayed in the river for extra heat dissipation, the Cronus and the Hunchback closed to point blank range on the legless mechs. Sadly, because of the way it fell the Griffin cannot see any target, and because of lingering heat it was unable to spin or attempt to stand up. It's going to just have to take the incoming fire this round, which is really going to suck because it is REALLY easy for a mech to hit a prone and adjacent target (the AC-20 will need a 5+)

Here is a map for you.

Round 10 FIRE (As Team blue tries to take out two mechs at once)

Well given the close quarters after movement blood is to be expected and there was. The Panther is now a mission kill with one leg, one arm, and no functional weapons. The griffin also took a beating and is down to one (1) internal structure on its left leg. The next thing to sneeze at that leg will take it off. The only upside for Team gold is that the damage the hunchback took, in addition to removing the left arm, also knocked the hunchback over so that it cannot kick the Griffin and won't move much next round.

Since the Panther is a mission kill, I made the executive decision not to have the Cronus kick, since it could potentially miss and then fall down.

It is sure nice of Team gold to sportingly do damage from the arms in on their targets. That lets the target remain effective for much longer than the unsporting Team blue who keeps knocking off legs.

Here is your map with all the fire arrows.

Heat Phase
-------------------
Dragon DRG-1S-UK (Team A) gains 8 heat, sinks 13 heat and is now at 2 heat.
Griffin GRF-1RG-BT (Team A) gains 0 heat, sinks 5 heat and is now at 0 heat.
Trebuchet TBT-5N (Team A) gains 10 heat, sinks 10 heat and is now at 2 heat.
Panther PNT-9R (Team A) gains 18 heat, sinks 9 heat and is now at 15 heat.
Panther PNT-9R (Team A) needs a 4+ to avoid shutdown, rolls 9 : avoids successfully!
Cronus CRS-3M (Team B) gains 14 heat, sinks 14 heat and is now at 5 heat.
Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) gains 16 heat, sinks 13 heat and is now at 3 heat.
Warhammer WHM-6D (Team B) gains 26 heat, sinks 24 heat and is now at 2 heat.
Panther is badly overheated, but since it cannot move and has no weapons to fire, that should not be an issue.
The Cronus is now the only mech with a penalty at all, and that only a -1 to movement.

Round 11 MOVEMENT (I get up, but I fall down again...)

Let's start with this..

Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) must make a piloting skill check (getting up).
Needs 5 [5 (Base piloting skill) + 0 (getting up)], rolls 2 : falls.
Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) falls on its rear, suffering 5 damage.
Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) takes 5 damage to LTR. Armor destroyed, 11 Internal Structure remaining
Critical hit on LT. Roll is 7; no effect.
Pilot of Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) "Rashiakas" must roll 5 to avoid damage; rolls 10 : succeeds.

Hunchback HBK-4G (Team B) must make a piloting skill check (getting up).
Needs 5 [5 (Base piloting skill) + 0 (getting up)], rolls 7 : succeeds.

The Hunchback tried to get up (walking), and fell on its ass. Although it was able to get up a second time, the remaining movement was not enough to move out of the way of the spinning Griffin; so at least the Griffin gets a chance to fire back this round. Meanwhile, Team blue is giving the Trebucet a quite interesting choice, keep up fire on the Hunchback or take the shot at the undamaged rear armor of the Cronus (Cronus has 5/7 armor in the side/center torso respectively). The Cronus was attempting to get around the Dragon, but the Dragon used its, now back to normal, speed to back up into the woods to clog up the fire lane a bit.

Meanwhile, in its own world, the Trebuchet turned and backed up but remained in a position to continue laying fire at medium range.

Finally, since the mech was trashed, Norfleet decided to eject from his trashed mech and hunt down Good Little Toastboy to beat him up. (Sadly, the rules do not allow mechwarrior kung fu, but it is a good narrative).

Norfleet ejects from a Panther PNT-9R (Team A).

Panther PNT-9R (Team A) must make a piloting skill check (landing in clear terrain).
Needs 8 [5 (ejecting) + 5 (Mech is prone) - 2 (landing in clear terrain)], rolls 7 : fails.

The pilot ejects safely!

*** Panther PNT-9R (Team A) DESTROYED by ejection! ***

Here is your map.

Nothing is set in stone yet. The griffin might not destroy the hunchback, and a single lucky head hit can take down just about any mech.
We could also blame the dice, that the hunchback didn't manage to stand in its first try, but the point is moot, is it not?

We'll just have to wing it. :smug:

I'm really wondering what we could have done differently to get two tries at ending up in 2617. Is it even possible? Have him run from the beginning and spend the additional 2 MP turning left and right again?

The way I learned to play battle tech is that you declare if you are walking or running before you attempt to get up. You said you were walking so you got up walking. I am sorry if it was not clear that I would do it that way.

Besides, this way the Griffin gets to shoot too, and that entertains the fans. :smug:

Round 11 FIRE (Fuck the heat, FIRE ALL GUNS!)

See this picture.
Round11firing.jpg

This is the nice tight fire group, lots of crisscrossing laser beams and much exciting stuff happening.

See that yellow arrow coming from down south? That is the Trebuchet bringing it home from the outback. We'll see if if it makes the difference.

Well, after finally getting the heat back down to minimum penalties, this time both teams decided to alpha strike.

Let's see what happens. Well, a bunch of misses, but some real hits in there too. To start with, the Warhammer succeeded in sneezing on the Griffin's left leg and it off as well. It also continued burning the center torso.
blackknight.jpg

Of course that is illrelevant because the hunchback hit the center torso; opening it like a tin can. Then it followed (hideous, painful) insult with injury and finished off the center torso with a small laser (yep, 3 point paper-cut kill).
Hunchbackfatal.jpg

FATALITY!

Meanwhile the Trebuchet was cleanly missing its fire and the Griffin was doing trivial damage to the Hunchback's right side with its dying blow.

But what about the Dragon and the Cronus, both of which badly overheated in order to pour fire on their targets?

Well the Cronus missed..... entirely, to be fair it was on 8/10s but how ironic neh?

And the dragon? Two hits, both med lasers, one of which reduced the hunchback's right torso armor to the point where he might have to start worrying about damage and the other crippled the OTHER arm. Guys, the AC-20 is in the torso, might want to aim there.

All in all, no piloting damage. The Dragon took no hits, the Griffin is dead, and the hunchback took less damage from all of team gold than it did by itself.

Here are your numbers.

Yeah, I'm disappointed as well.. :decline:

I know rashiakas is out of town, and GLT hasn't responded in our tactics PM thread, but as to what's up with team gold I cannot say.
I'm even more disappointed in the onlookers. This round was awesome.

Yeah, that round was harsh on Team Gold. I can sympathise. :bro:

Still, it's what the masses want, explosions! But maybe the masses were disappointed the hunchback didn't also go up in flames. On the other hand, you're doing a nice job of removing its lasers.. :M
