I've played games I initially didn't feel like playing based on other people's recommendations, and ended up becoming a huge fan and had tons of fun.

Such as Dark Souls. Initially, I didn't watch to even touch these games because I hated the idea of every monster respawning the moment you sit at a checkpoint, and when I tried giving it a shot anyway, I had the misfortune of starting with DS2 (a.k.a. shittiest soulsgame in the history of FromSoftware), and it took many people's recommendations for me to finally give it a shot after the initial trauma. Now I've very thoroughly played through DS1 (rapemastered), DS3, Bloodporn, Elden Ring, and am beginning to eye Sekiro lustfully. Not to mention various third-party soulsclones, like Salt & Sanctuary.

Never touched DS2 again, though.

Of course the JRPG retard doesn't understand. The mouse is an extension of my hand at this point. I've played CS for 16 years. Anything that happens on my screen, I'm able to react base understanding of mechanics than 99.9% of people after some quick practice. As a result, ARPGs are extremely easy. If I spend just a little bit of time learning what actions to do, I can perform them to a higher level than almost anyone.
