You know what? While I don't Larian writer can pull it off and I wish they can fuck off with their barrel stacking/moving barrel around design, the way new Divinity games D:OS 2 at least as I haen't tried BG3 would work well with Shadowrun.

In case of HBS SR games, they are mostly linear in structure per mission basis thing.

Larian chapter/semi open exploration structure could very well work for SR type games where you can split explore using different party members doing different things instead of being confined to moving as a party.

Seeing this meme begging for Larian to adapt Warhammer fantasy into a turn-based CRPG make me wonder: After D&D, which tabletop franchise would benefit the most from being adpated into a turn-based CRPG by Larian? With BG3 popping off as hard as it did, lots of franchises are gonna want the Larian treatment now, so the possibilities are there.

Probably not Warhammer fantasy though, Larian is know for having a kinky sense of humor, I am not very sure it feels well in WH grim darkness.

But what about Shadowrun? Given that nearly all the major tabletop franchises like D&D, Pathfinder, Cyberpunk have had their time to shine as crpg in recent years, with World of Darkness and Warhammer 40k to follow suit soon (Bloodlines 2 from unknown new developer and Rogur Trader from Owlcar respectively), only Shadowrun hasn't received any attention from crpg developers since 2015.

Do you think Larian can do Shadowrun justice, if Microsoft - the current digital right owner of Shadowrun - give them a go-ahead? After all, a setting that mix tolkien-esque fantasy tropes with cyberpunk vibe like Shadowrun have a lot of potential for a turn-based CRPG, as Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong prove. After Baldur's Gate 3, it can be safely said that if there is any studio who can turn a turn-based CRPG based on Shadowrun IP into a critical and commercial hit with mass appeal, it's Larian.

I also wouldn't mind if Larian use the fund from Baldur's Gate 3's success to have another go at Divinity Dragon Commander... Gosh I love that game despite its flaws, a sequel/reboot with bigger budget that can address all the original's shortcomings would be welcome.
Does anyone know if the explosion in quantity of Warhammer licensed games in the past fifteen years is because of a decline in miniature sales?

Larian and WoTC (D&D) are perfect for each other. But that doesn't mean Larian should keep making games with D&D slapt on it. They should both give up on their respective industries and instead, make porn for all the current degenerates that are playing D&D and BG3. It's what they and their players actually want.

You're all missing the obvious answer: Bunnies and Burrows!
-tons of sexual content makes sense.
-in-depth, complex plot isn't necessary.
-appeal to the furries, before some other company tries to.

It was because Games Workshop got screwed over by EA for Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes. This plus the shift from big publishers to focus on IPs they own rather than third party IPs made GW give up on working with them. GW decided to take the strategy of allowing desperate small indies to make shit games with their IP but hoping that there will be gems within them. If they didn't take that strategy they would have been in the same position as WOTC, hoping that a Larian would be interested in making a game for their IP but getting Beamdogs instead.

There is speculation that we might see a Critical Role game from Larian in the future. They seem to be a good fit theme wise and Critical Role has previously been promoting Larian games.

Larian writing Warhammer would surely be something to behold. If they get past that hurdle everything might be fine. A Warhammer game looking like BG3 or OS2 would be a sure buy for me. However, if they do some stupid shit with the romances/sex it won't matter how good the game is. Warhammer isn't the place where you can make everyone fuckable, horney, gay or whatever and get away with it.

Hard to imagine Larian approaching anything Cyberpunk related as well. I'd just stick to Divinity if I were them. Already on a roll with fantasy games and one can only imagine how many ideas were discussed for OS3 while making BG3.

I'd love to see a Tekumel CRPG but Larian's cringe writing can't do the setting justice.
Good luck with any of the niche games of old becoming a CRPG: Tekumel, Skyjorune(I don’t coun’t that last one as a good entry), Wilderlands from Judges Guild, Tunnels & Trolls, Atlantis, Mayfair Games - Role Aids, Arduin, Talislanta, etc. I think the dudes of JG have a Nazi stick up their arse or so I’m told. They fucked their ip up so bad no digital front wants to hold any PDFs of their content and their own store is sparse as fuck or dead. And their KS blew butt chunks.

They should stick to D&D, because that high fantasy no fucks given shit is clearly their strength. I dread them touching anything grimdark like Warhammer.
