When this was announced, I was very interested. I want be interested, but the grim-dark Pokemon combat looks very boring and tedious. I've also had enough of post-Mass Effect era Bioware, which this looks like its trying to emulate. I'm hoping some good reviews change my mind.

The butthurt must flow.
(I don't care one bit, personally, but some of you will.)

Between the trailer from the original post and the screenshot your screenshot, this reeks of being an unholy abomination of woke eurojank and bay area mentally ill localization. First off, why are there so few bad Russian accents? Secondly, the the screenshot is captures a spirit of unabashed make believe.

Oy…:deadhorse:

Played the prologue. It's pretty janky, but premise is interesting.
You go to a village in Russian-controlled Georgia to seek a healer after a botched binding of a spirit, and it turns out it's Grigori Rasputin. He helps you, then you solve the mistery of the village's misfortunes.
Now you owe Rasputin a favor, and he calls it in immediately: he's coming to Warsaw with you and together you will STOP WORLD WAR 1!

Only played the prologue so far, but it seems like you can explore to find stuff that opens up options in dialogue, letting you skip combat for example.

God's of gaming be praised. It's not what you'd think (very likely). Here's the developer's answer to the question what it all means:

Hi!
First of all, I just wanted to say that I'm glad you got interested in the game!
The reason we included that in the game description is because Warsaw 1905 is actually a very uncommon setting and a huge chunk of the audience might not know much about the city at that time. As you’ve found through your own research, Warsaw at the beginning of the 20th century was vibrant with people of different nationalities, religions, ethnicities, various cultures and speaking different languages. This fact about the city might be surprising to some but we believe that it also makes it very interesting. Throughout the game you’ll meet characters from different cultures, such as Polish, Russian, Jewish, etc. Their nationality won’t be the core of their personalities or characters but it won’t be completely insignificant as well.
The cultural variety is not the core of the game but you can’t accurately depict Warsaw 1905 without mentioning how vastly diverse the place was.
The Salutors (monsters) present in the game are not simple violent beasts but rather mysterious ethereal beings manifested by and attracted to people's flaws, evil deeds and deep desires. “Everyone has their own demons” can be taken both literally and metaphorically in this case :)

Hope that answers your questions!

Fuck this game, if the Inquisitor could get a full Polish dub, there's no reason this one couldn't. It's like playing Metro in English...

Nikanuur, please don't misinform people. At least include links to the information you are providing. Here is where the actual quote that you linked is from.

On the Steam forums, a user asked this question. Here is the link.

In The Culturally Diverse World Of Early 20th Century Warsaw

Hey, I stumbled upon this game when I was looking at the Children of Mortia free weekend and saw this new game you're working on. I have a question about the quote in the product description, stating, "In The Culturally Diverse World Of Early 20th Century Warsaw".

I found it peculiar that diversity was explicitly mentioned, is it going to be an integral feature in the game, constantly talked about, or have you preemptively added the phrase to justify adding Ukrainians, Belarussians, Germans, ect, into the game?

Furthermore, in relation to the diverse culture, what do you mean exactly? Are you referring to religion, language, or ethnicity specifically? I looked at the census records for Poland between 1921 and 1931, and saw that the different cultures were the Polish, Ukrainians, Jews, Germans and several other Eastern European cultural groups. Is there going to be a particular emphasis on a Jewish or non Polish character/protagonist?

And lastly, how significant will culture be in the game? Perhaps I've misinterpreted, but from what I've gathered it's a turn based combat game set in Poland and having you duel eldritch apparitions, how does diversity apply to fighting a pack of ghouls or werewolves?

The reason the forum poster asked the question about the game being culturally diverse, is from the description of the games Steam page. Here is the link and quote from the games description.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1684350/The_Thaumaturge/
The Thaumaturge is a story-driven RPG with morally ambiguous choices, taking place in the culturally diverse world of early 20th century Warsaw. In this world, salutors exist: esoteric beings that only thaumaturges can truly perceive and use for their needs.

TLDR - The quote was not in response to the trigger warning at the opening. It was in response to someone wondering about the games description from the Steam page.

I disagree. It was a reaction to the topic at hand. As to the links; there is no obligation for that here either, I just quoted someone, that's all.

Oh goodness. Turns out, I didn't read the "couldn't leave out" correctly at first. But your reaction... I am getting seriously confused about all of this, now.
But anyway, apologies, and thank you for your prior elaboration on the actual topic.
