Lots of complaints about the character designs but every girl I've run into as of chapter 9 has been extremely cute. Yunaka would look better without the stars on her hair and face though. I hope someone makes a mod to remove them.

I loved when i changed Anna class to general and i couldn't even see her because her shield was bigger than her, lol

They thought the Codex was about degenerate opinions on savescumming, but it was really about degenerate aesthetic tastes after all

Not very far in but the Emblem mechanic seems very promising for buildporn. Seems like inherit Canter on basically everyone is the easy call, but potentially fun weird class mashups by being able to give the emblem proficiencies to anybody. Might try Etie Warrior for a high STR bow warrior, and wondering if Louis can take on something interesting alongside his superhigh armour.

Canter and Mentorship (from Byleth's Ring, and that bonus also works on adjacent units) are a must when played on Hard+. Also I feel like Skirmishes at the start of the game are bit overtuned on Hard and you need to catch-up a few levels pushing that Story Chapters.

Protip: Anna has superior Magic growth. She really starts off as dead weight, I still haven't decided if I want to invest in her. No skirmishes to help with that until chapter 11 on Maddening either, apparently. Once again trusting guide writers turned out to be a mistake.

Just cleared Tiki's paralogue on my second attempt. Must have spent some 5 hours total there. The boss itself was easy since they only gave her 1 range in a game where every other boss has 2. Ballcryst did most of the legwork with the dragons, while Chloe + 3H emblem continued being hilariously busted. Keeps gaining bond past 10, too. No idea what the cap is.

The cap is 20 for all bonds. The non-dlc rings require paralogues to be completed before you can take them past 10

The medium shield he's carrying looks about right to me compared to the real thing:

Okay, chapters 10+11 elevate the game. First time there was something interesting going on with the story, and I do like them taking away your crutches, if only temporarily. Hope you brought staves and DLC emblems.

As a Berwick Saga fan, it's intriguing how Engage has some of it's mechanics being quite familar.

1. The Break mechanic (Attacker who has a weapon triangle advantage against the defender can disable their ability to counterattack for the rest of the turn) comes across as an specific evolution of Berwick Saga's "get damaged can't counterattack" mechanic.

2. The Armor Knights no longer being a joke due to their high defense to the point that you must use anti-armor or magic and immunity to the Break mechanic above is similar to how the Armor Units of Berwick Saga are so tanky. Amusingly, they are also compared to the Gigas Knights, an eneny-only unit with an enormous defense stat in the 30s.

Fire Emblem Engage is proving to be an excellent successor to Fates except the story is just average rather than bad and the gameplay is consistently good to the point I've barely heard any complaints about it even on hardcore fancircles.
