What does tasteful rape means? How do you identify a tasteful done rape? What are its features?

Some options:

- Let your men rape the enemy women when pillaging conquered town? (Morale++, Reputation--)
- A setting where only female virgins are able to use magic...
- Player character is under the influence of a dark curse/is losing his mind, loses control and rapes a female companion. Drama ensues.

I would say any time that the rape makes you really feel for the situation, for me i really liked how they did viconias rape in one of the bg2 mods. Especially appreciated her revenge. When i first encountered this i was like OMG they did not just do that?!?! oh yes they did! im so going to kill that guy! so the revenge was sweet.

an example of not so well done rape is probably the elves from DA:O when you rescue them from howes people.

I'm assume rape being tastefully done means it isn't gratuitous and is meant to be a part of the story or something. Not like "press this button to rape" right?

I mean as long as it shows the consequences and suffering and everything involved in rape for a story based game then I'd see no problem.

You can mention how marauders rape and pillage I assume.

I mean for the most part, you don't want to include rape unless you're going to do it seriously, or just have a completely non-serious game.

That's tasteful. No beating around the bush. Portraying rape as tasteful as possible would be the opposite of tasteful.

Disagree with this. You are describing a meaningful (gameplay-wise) rape, not tasteful. Besides, prose can be explicit and derogative.

I honestly don't know how a rape with C&C can be considered tastefully done. That's out of the scope of the characteristics of said act.

As long as you don't have any unrapable NPCs, rape will be tasteful. As long as everybody is rapeable, rape is degrading to noone. Everybody wins.

No it comes from volourn who wanted to add it as a feature to his NWN mod, leading to his teammates abandoning him. True story.

Wow, my opinion of Volourn has risen considerably . I wanted to include tasteful rape in my mod and my teammate was pretty enthusiastic about it. Especially after reading my rape dialogue (which wasn't tastefully done because of degrading narration). Sadly, a few months later she got gobbled up by LotRO, so she didn't deliver any work.

I would say that tastefully done rape requires neutral narration, skill checks and a few decisions that may lead to a different state of the victim and to other consequence like getting away with it, getting caught, etc. etc.
Also, reactions of party members if they are near.

The pinnacle would be mixing "porn" with "real" and achieving a balance that makes both aspects work on both target audiences.

It happens too rarely. Also it can be handled by normal attack mechanics if they are detailed enough and if babies are present.
