I had Avira and it also quarantined ToEE but I got around it by disabling Avira every time I wanted to play ToEE and of course also when I installed it.
I did this a few years ago. Was perfectly playable. Tough going in the start in moathouse, but spamming magic missile took care of even the barbarian. Think I had fireball by the time I hit the lower levels and Lareth, or maybe I just got real lucky with color spray. Either way, once you get fireball and cone of cold, nothing can stop you. Unfortunately fucking saves got corrupted and didn't feel like remaking, so don't know how all mage would work with Zuggtmoy, but I hear it's doable with summons.DamnedRegistrations said:Going to try this out tonight. Planning on attempting with a party entirely of mages. Maybe a cleric as well.

I always play staight-up. No cheese, no powergaming, not even rest spamming if I can help it.
Can the thing be beaten in a fair fight by a classical party?

Never thought to try this. Almost seems too easy.

Cone works nice on the efreet and pretty much everything else. Prayer from cleric helps a bit with saves vs fear too, and there was even some specific saves vs fear spell or commune but I forget wtf it was. Someone said you should buff the shit out of a thief, have melee tank the front and then thief would backstab the shit out of Balor, but that's bullshit as his AC is ridiculous and warriors hit a lot more often than a shitty thief with two super enhanced cleavers. Go figure. Most spells are completely wasted on him. His equally ridiculous saves make even magic missile spam pointless.

How do you regenerate health without a cleric/druid, buy a ton of potions? Without a thief most chest will stay locked? And debuffing isn't improtant or what?
Yes once, accidentaly. It happened (bug) that Cuthbert appeared but no dialogue between him and Iuz triggered, so the fight went on. He killed all my party except the cleric with Scather and my sorc. I had the cleric under improved invis that's why Iuz ignored him. The sorc protected himself with mirror image and stoneskin. I always moved the sorc a bit, so that Iuz had to take a move action in the next round first. That way he only gets 1 attack instead of 8 or so. So while the the sorc ran in circles recasting mirror images, the scather wielding cleric chopped away at his HP. Without Scather you wouldn't even hit his AC.Btw, anyone ever defeated Iuz in vanilla/modded ToEE? How much of cheese do you have to use to kill him?
