Mass Effect: A narratological review

Charless Stross? Hahahaha!
You really found an example...
No man, he is in another league and doesnt write space operas.
His usual modus operandi is cramming so many ideas in one chapter that could be stretched into ten book series by usual writers.

As for contemporary space opera try reading some Culture books or Hyperion Cantos.
Thatll show you "slow burn".

Foundation? Please... are we still in stone age of Sci fi?

And you know that books and vidyagames are like different stuff with different market demography and expectations and value appraisal and stuff?
Books sell slow, based on critiques, reviews and word of mouth.

Games must sell NOW, NOW, RIGHT AWAY, YESTERDAY!!! And then their over.

Hyperion is another writer.
Try to read the "Merchant Princes" series and tell me that Stross knows how to do pacing.

Hell try to read some of the culture books.
Guy doesn't know what pacing is. In fact he sucks ass and is only nominated to the hugo constantly because of retarded British nationalism of the voters.

Yes Hyperion is "a book" by another writer. Its not another writer.
Writers - people able to construct full sentences.

Yes, Stross is able to do or write anything in his books. If something isnt there its because he chose not to.

Here is what you have to do to understand things better.
Take a brick. Hit yourself with it.

Unless you really piss them off. Then its orbital bombardment or sending things that dissipate into a cloud of nano assemblers at their will after you.
