I think we need to analyze just what Kalin did wrong to avoid repeating his mistakes:
1. He tried to replace the glorious 5-year-plan of Grimwulf with a scaled down version of the same. Obviously, this was done to cut down on costs and labor time, so that he might use the spare funds and free time on his decadent parties with the soon-to-be-brewed alcohol. He doesn't seem to understand that Grimwulf made this wall so huge in order to provide work and job opportunities for people to keep them happy. For there is no happiness for those idle in both mind and body. Kalin clearly doesn't appreciate his genius, for as the design clearly shows, he already thinks like a true capitalist concerned only with profit. With Kalin as the leader, he would turn the colony into Kalin's Kapitalist Korporashun.
2. He tries to isolate himself from others by trying to build his own house. Not only is this wrong, as the house should belong to the people, lack of any specific housing for the others also hints at the belief that he alone deserves his special house, others don't seem to be worth his consideration, for he is above them. Not even Grimwulf has his own house in that plan, further hinting at the fact that he already seems to consider selling him out to the deers.
3. His plan includes separate areas of housing for colonists of different economic status. Obviously, this is an attempt to create a class system, with Kalin himself standing far above the working class, with his mansion and pinball hall built by those he deems to be beneath him. This is wrong, for in our colony, everyone is equal (even if Grimwulf might be more equal then others).
Therefore, I propose this to help redeem Kalin and set him on the right path once again:
1) He should not receive any bonus of any kind. It was greed that led him down this dark path, as such he needs to go back to his roots and find joy in the simplest of work. He should work not for any material gain, not for himself, but see the work itself, or atleast its benefit for the colony itself as its own reward.
2) Kalin needs to learn to appreciate others and not look down on them or think himself better then the others. As the great man of the north Ned Stark once said, "When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Helly wisely suggested that he should spend more time with Bliblablubb and I agree. Move his bed to the crypt, near Bliblablubb's, so that he may feel the closeness of his comrades, both living and the dead. Always there to watch over him.
3) I believe that Kalin needs to understand that every job, no matter how small is equally important and brings glory to the colony. Let him start working on the wall on his own for now, Bliblablubb can handle any of his security duties. Spigot should watch over him when needed, to ensure that he does not attempt to skimp on his work or be tempted to fall back on his old ways. That man almost gave his life and limb for the colony, he can be trusted.
I submit my ideas to be considered by the wise Grimwulf. Only he knows what Kalin truly needs!
