Looks pretty decent. Games of that nature (isometric/turn based) depend on good writing more than any other type of game IMHO, so let's just hope that it's a worthwhile story filled with interesting characters. A tall order, but I have faith in most of the indie community.

Another thing that has a tendency to piss me off with turn-based games are encounters that take forever to complete because you have to sit and wait for all 50 combatants to finish their moves every damn turn. Silent Storm is a good example of how this can go wrong. Panzerkleins anybody? :?

Wow, that looks cool! Great find! Maybe the Codex should make some newsposts about it or do an interview or mention it in the 2006 Year in Review article or something. Make sure you pm VD about it.

This is more of a puzzle game in RPG's clothing, but if Fastcrawl qualifies then I think this does as well:
http://dungeongames2.com/TheDungeonAlphaDemo8.zip

It's based on an older, little-known game called "Tower of the Sorcerer." This is just an alpha demo, but it's fully playable and has two 10-level dungeons (a tutorial and a real one).

I'll be recoding it from the ground up soon, and the final version will have much more. The discussion so far regarding development is taking place here:

The graphics look sucky, but it's not the graphics that define a game after all... and it seems to be free to download, so I could give it a try.

The graphics are not bad at all for an indie game. But the game is not a RPG really. It suffers from 'consolitus'(dumbed down and tired game mechanics to appeal to the Nintendo/Playstation teeny-bopper crowd). Characters defined exclusively by the HP and MP stats, which is closer to a Zelda-like game than a RPG. Dark Ages has been around for a long time too. I remember the first one came out way back during(or perhaps before?) the whole QBasic RPG phenomenon sort of took off for a while like 10 or 11 years ago.

if someone is still unaware, there is a working Windows remake of Mike Singleton's cult classic "Lords of Midnight".

The Legend of the Mystical Sword is an exciting RPG game about a secret romance between a princess and her night. Based off of the Zelda and SOM Series, you cant pass this one up. Especially when YOU get control of the reigns and make your own missions!

Now that sounds promising, having a romance with a certain time of the day!

Battles of Norghan

RPGish Strategy game in fantasy setting. You hire/bid for/manage a team of mercenaries and fight with them in a turn-based top-down mode. Randomized maps, no story except get from Division 8 to Division 1.

$25 to buy, demo lets you play for about half a year.

Trust me, this is the good shit.

That Battles of Norghan looks a *lot* like Paladin and Paladin II games on the Amiga. You hired party members and engaged in tactical combat. It was well hard!I remember using the level editor just to make some easy battles to try and beef up my characters a bit.

Didn't see this one here so...

Ahrimans Prophecy. Final Fantasy 3/4 type game. Better though. More choices in gameplay.
