I just started Baldur's Gate 2...

[Strength]Dick, provide some screens, exmpls of bad lines so the hivemind can consider your opinion.

First shouldn't that be Diplomancy? Second, it appears I will need to upload the images to a webpage before I can post them. How do I do that? I've never done anything like that before.

Of all of those games, less than 5 of them have combat that isn't a steaming pile of shit (Deus Ex, Bloodlines, The Witcher, maybe Gothic). BG2 has superior gameplay (at least in the department of combat and encounter design) than a large fraction of those games, so judging it on C&C alone isn't exactly fair.

No. I haven't played Deus Ex and Gothic, so I can't comment on them (Deus Ex is a shooter anyway) but combat in Bloodlines and The Twitcher is an abominable real-time clickety-click mess. I'm surprised to find out that there are Bloodlines sewer lovers out there. Combat in Fallout and Fallout 2, though not the best example of combat in RPG, is still good quality, unlike in the games mentioned above, as in Fallout a certain amount of planning and tactics have to be used to overcome the opposition.

Right-click the images and see properties. You can copy-paste the correct url from there.

Or quote my post and you'll see the format.

Thanks. I just copied your format. Still can't see how to get to the webpage though...

Oh well. Now you all SHOULD be able to see where I'm coming from. Going back through it, if Minsc wasn't there the writing would simply be...mediocre. Maybe I'll continue and get that fucker killed. Can companions die permanently in this game?

Every time I heard Irenicus speak, I pictured the voice actor sitting in the studio wearing his lab coat from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

That Minsc opening dialogue is one of the better ones ever.
