Same shit as Fallout 3. Except with better writing! My ass. Looks even worse than FO3, however that's possible. Had to be a skyway vote.

It could have been a good game. Hell, it could have been great. I don't know, because I haven't finished it. Gamebryo is fucking abomination.

I was less than impressed, but I'll give it another chance in a couple years when all modern RPGs are kinect-based jump&runs.

NV was about as good as it could've been with that shitty engine and sandbox approach. All of its major faults were inherited from Bethesda's shitty game, even though Obsidian also fixed a lot of things that were wrong about it. If New Vegas sang the blues, I would listen.

Butchered S.P.E.C.I.A.L. was probably the thing that bothered me the most. Instead of defining your character like in FO the attributes mostly just added to your superhuman capabilities such as V.A.T.S. and the ability to take a billion bullets before dying and carry two hundred pounds of 200-year-old beans. Melee "tank" character doesn't need agility at all. A sniper can be nearly blind and still blow people's heads off from a hundred yards. You probably could finish the game without much trouble with one point in every attribute, on the hardest difficulty. Imagine doing the same in Fallout or Fallout 2.

The combat was bad, but it's bad in almost all first-person RPGs anyway, and you could avoid most of it. The quest design was mostly great. The world made sense most of the time and the New Reno comparisons aren't really justified. I've finished the game twice and enjoyed every second of it.

In the end, it's good for what it is. And what it is is GLORIOUS.

"Gamers will choose whether they kill the stormtrooper on the right, or the stormtrooper on the left side of the screen. Witcher 2, Skyrim, and now Star Wars Kinect. Roleplaying fans have a lot to look forward to this year."

When a group finally mods New Vegas into the Fallout 2 engine, it will be the 5th best Fallout.

Fixed!

I kid. Game's pretty damn good. I'm wavering between option 2 and clapping like DiCaprio, the former because there's some really, truly shitty writing in there (fuck you Vault 19 and North Vegas/Westside/Thorn), but the main plot and some of the sidequests/locales are written by bros, for bros. :salute:

Caesar's was actually a low point for me, but I like how the game mocks itself in that regard, so it makes it more bearable as a faction.

It's pretty awesome for the storyfag in me. It does have it's share of problems though. Still, my favourite game since Bloodlines.

Because only NV lovers go on vacation. Yep, that's the kind of logic I come to expect from Bethsidianware fanboys.

Disclaimer: Ignore this comment and concentrate on rating NV.

Played for a few hours and uninstalled because my recent rage quota was already filled up by Arcania, and I was not willing to explode over another horrible game.

Almost exactly 2 years after the release of Fallout 3 came Fallout New Vegas. It's a damn sight better than FO3 and just oozes 'old cowboy' style. Extra points for style and effort.

Eurogamer commented that "Obsidian has created a totally compelling world and its frustrations pale into insignificance compared to the immersive, obsessive experience on offer. Just like the scorched scenery that provides its epic backdrop, New Vegas is huge and sprawling, sometimes gaudy, even downright ugly at times – but always effortlessly, shamelessly entertaining."

If you like animated prostitution better that's cool but I prefer the :smug: alternative where you can force desperate gamblers into doing sexual favors so they can keep their Vegas dream alive. it seems like the best way for me to LARP a typical Codexer

Actually there's a spin-off mod to sexual innuendo that adds things like prostituting you and your companions to johns in casinos for extra caps. I never have a problem with money so I haven't really tried it. BUT! It apparently adds the danger of being raped by raiders and the Legion who will straight up attack your female character if you refuse them. Not to mention you risk catching STD's that drain your attributes until you cure yourself with drugs you've bought or made yourself, or a doctor who will cure you. Seriously BIS' Fallouts have nothing on the infinite imagination of the Beth modding community. STD's, sexual prowess experience, the chance of being raped and killed by horny wastelanders? Fuck yeah sign me up!

"It fucking sucks. Obshitian didn't disappoint, as usual."

Orange deserts, retarded npcs, hollywoodish stereotypes, boring, boring, stupid, stupid, more stupidity, fail engine, fail AI, fail gameplay, fail story, fail atmosphere, fail almost everything.

Don't understand how anybody and for what reasons like this game/fail.

EDIT:

Let me put it this way: if you like shit, keep it to yourself - maybe you enjoy it - I don't care.
But, please, don't claim it is so great and awesome.

Decent game, shit engine, shit character system, many shitty small game mechanics.
Had fun for about 30 hours. Played for 40, didn't finish. Was torn between "decent" and "it kinda sucks". Went with "decent" simply because I have no intention of ever playing it again ("but I still play it from time to time" = no).

Pretty much exactly this. Game would probably have been p damn good without Gamebryo, as is though I just couldn't finish it, even though I was certainly intrigued. Compared to the average shit that people call RPGs these days, I guess it's really good. But being relatively good compared to gigantic piles of dung doesn't mean that much.
