The only problem with FFH is that the AI is dumb as rocks when it comes to managing economy or technology (I have to use the World Editor to make sure there's an Evil Empire somewhere). Otherwise it's a fantastic game.

Well. I'm gonna setup a vote for the faction we'll be playing as. There's a shit load, I'll just point you towards their Wiki to get a general idea of the picks, no point in copy and pasting it all over here.

http://fallfromheaven.wikia.com/wiki/Civilizations

Discuss the ideas here and we'll decide it by tomorrow!

Looking forward to replaying this game after migrating to Win7!

I'm kinda leaning on ...hmm....Sheaim. Or maybe the super groovy Lanun.

I will copy-paste.

The Balseraphs form a nation of lies and illusions led by a madman and his daughter. All those still clinging to sanity fled long ago, and now the Balseraphs share Perpentach’s madness, living to amuse him. He goes to war on a whim and fights unpredictably, but is no less a threat for it. Despite the capriciousness of their ruler, the Balseraph cities are marvels to behold, dizzying carnivals filled with endless amusement and captivating horrors.

Ignore one vote for the Calabim and count it as another to the Balseraphs. Because I, for one, welcome our new Octopus Overlords.

Carnival of psychos worshipping the Great Old Ones sounds cooler than Vampires. Surely, Carnival of Crazy Vampires worshipping the Great Old Ones would be even cooler, but this isn't the old World of Darkness.

@RK47: I've never played this. What don't you like about them? I chose them 'cause I think they've got great LP potential.

Damn, wanted to see him rage over trying to play the Illians. Shiem would have been very codexian as well.

The people have spoken. To mimic our disorderly conduct and hive of the strange and uncommon, we've chosen Andhaira the Inane King to lead us through these dark times.

To some, he is nothing more than entertainment. Others view him as a pest. But one thing they always agreed on, is his persistence. No realm can stop Andhaira, the moment you banish one, another appears under a different name, the most interesting fact out of this is that Andhaira never bothered to conceal his identity under the new mantle. He immediately assumed his original persona, despite knowing the banishment to follow once his new appearance is spotted. Tales were told of how the Dark Underlord waged a war of banishment against Andhaira in a small hamlet of Codexia, only to have the latter return the very next day.

Is he One of Many or Many as One, which one is better, and why?

Doesn't matter. What matters is now, in the Ice Age, we needed him now more than ever.

What challenges awaits us in the new world?

Lord Andhaira the Charismatic.

Lord Andhaira the Arcane.

Lord Andhaira......the Insane.

Victory awaits. In this brave new world.

Somewhere in the coast, a wagon full of circus performers, known as the Codex Playground gather in a campfire, DISCUSS-ing the latest happening.

"Where should we settle?"

"By the seas? There's a lake and river nearby, with soil suitable for corn plantation? There's a marble deposit nearby, suitable for quarry. We can build wonders with it!"

Another spoke,

"I say we head further inland, there's a nice paddy rice field next to a good lake. With luck, we can still reach the marble, the paddy field, as well as the herd of tasty cows to the west!"

"Where's mah update?"

No consensus can be reached. But opinions are free. It's time to decide. Which is better, and why?

IIRC building on a river gives some sort of trade bonus. Coast is good as well for the same reason, trade networks are very profitable later on. Oh, and rivers give defense bonuses. Attacking over them is generally suicidal. Seems like you actually have a good spot right there. I usually have to trek around a few turns for mine. Though I play on erebus maps anyways.

Enthralled by the performance of Andhaira, a small group decides to settle down near the coast. When asked why, the leader promises a 'great presence will reveal itself to us.' None dared to ask more.

01.jpg

His fiery speech and call for duty inspired many. Buoyed by the sense of nationhood, warriors train harder.

02.jpg

Survival is key, yet the leader wanted more - he instructed his scholars to search on ways of worship. The key to unlocking the Great Presence he felt before him. Deep beneath the aquamarine seas. Again, none dared to question him.

03.jpg

The scouts, sent westwards to find anything of value, came across an abandoned graveyard.

04.jpg

Throwing cautious to the wind, they begin pillaging the scene, enraging the spirits. Spectres raised themselves from the tombstones and attack!

05.jpg

No search attempt was made. The scouts were presumed lost. A group of warrior freshly trained in Retardoland was sent southeast.

06.jpg

07.jpg

They too, did not get very far till a tiger ambushed them.

08.jpg

These losses are minor compared to the bigger picture, but it shows that we should stay within our borders and only leave when we are prepared.

09.jpg

Scholars have discovered the secrets of the ancient chant. Monuments glorifying great achievements can be built in every city. But Andhaira has no time for celebrations...

10.jpg

The secret of mysticism awaits. Scholars are learning and teaching the ways of worship. Never before, they prayed to the gods long past. Searching, attempting to find meaning in this life.

11.jpg

A freshly trained group of workers planted corn and increased Retardoland's growth rate.

12.jpg

As the city grew crowded, Andhaira plans for entertainment! He creates the ritual of Loki to conjure the mystical entertainer!

13.jpg

A newly trained scout suffered from the effects of Chaos mana. Weak and dying, he will live dangerously, sent on a lone search to the southwest.

14.jpg

Andhaira is not completely heartless, he sends a group of warrior to accompany the hapless scout.

15.jpg

Fucking Gryphon nailed the warrior in one swoop, and left the scout untouched.

16.jpg

Fleeing northwest, the scouts spotted polar bears across the river and a distant village.

17.jpg

A suicide run was planned, and he made it to the safety of the village.

18.jpg

Or so he thought, the villagers consist of mostly hunters and scouts who have fallen upon hard times, they form another scouting unit, ready to move out under Andhaira's command. Spiders and polar bears close in on the village as the sickly scout collapse in exhaustion.

19.jpg

The newly recruited hunters left behind the weaklings, as the polar bears feasted on the diseased corpses. Itself catching the disease.

21.jpg

The scholars have done it! They've learned how to pray, yet they've not found their god yet....unless...

22.jpg

A living god is made...Andhaira claims the title God of Inanity, Retardoland holds a marvelous celebration, increasing productivity and commerce. The populace rejoice at the discovery of a living divine being.

23.jpg

The fleeing scouts explored a dungeon, fighting off a pack of goblins. As victory seemed near, a poisoned dagger finds the surviving scout's back. His time is short.

24.jpg

Meanwhile, Retardoland ceased celebration to fend off incoming Lizardfolks.

Down south, the surviving scouts were halted in their progress...they've trespassed into Grigori lands..
25.jpg

The godless fools are deluding themselves..we'll leave them for now and return for their faiths to the Inanity!

26.jpg

Conjuration of Loki complete! Warriors are now trained in Retardoland.

27.jpg

The God King Andhaira beckons his summoned servant closer and bestowed it the title 'Alt of my Alts.' With a wicked grin, Loki conjured fireworks around the throne, inspiring the sages and scholars to work harder on their research.

28.jpg

The surviving scouts finally met their match in form of wolves.

29.jpg

Roads are drawn up. We'll need to expand if we want to hurry the discovery of the Great One. Even now, Andhaira can hear its voice...calling him from beyond his dreams...

30.jpg

Goblins assault, Retardoland, Loki's magical chaotic blades aided the defense in repelling the foolish attacks!

31.jpg

Death and famine is common in Retardoland, where the weak perish, and the strong survive.

32.jpg

Sensing that the city is nearing its limit, Andhaira commands an expedition to expand southwestwards.

33.jpg

The task force of 2 warriors and wagon of settlers succeeded, finding the town of Bethesda by the river.

34.jpg

News of a Barbarian King in faraway lands are of no concern, unless if he's close by.

35.jpg

Roads were build, commerce grows as trade between Bethesda and Retardoland flourished.

36.jpg

The tavern spoke of a red dragon creating a lair, but there's no specifics of its presence. We just hope it is not near us!

37.jpg

The key to finding the great one is beneath the ocean, hence we must know how to sail the seas. Andhaira kissed the man who built the first boat good luck and threw him on it, hands and legs tied....amazingly, he survived ten minutes on the coasts. Not so on the one who tried his luck at the ocean.

andy.jpg
A pity we cannot go DEEPER INTO HIS REALM...BUT! WE CAN START THE SEARCH NAO! KEKEKEKEKEK!

38.jpg

Another fishing boat is constructed, its oarsmen instructed to stick to the shores and head westwards.

39.jpg

Amidst the feverish progress and prayers, there's still time for Retardoland to breed another group of settlers, this time just east of Bethesda, Bioware is born. Home to the romance writers and homosexuals.

40.jpg

Attempts to move by land through the western forests are still met with failure.

41.jpg

But Andhaira hasn't given up. Scouts are recruited to make another attempt.

42.jpg

Amazingly, the feverish worship of the Great Old One keeps pressure high on the crime rate, either that or the City Watch hasn't received its bribes.

43.jpg

Finally, our fishing boat returns with good news!

44.jpg

The Lanun pirates are fine sailors and will make good trading partner should we establish a route.

45.jpg

They own at least two cities, their capital of Innsmouth are located on the coast, much like the rest of their cities. Pirate King Falamar opened their borders, allowing our vessel to pass unharmed.

One night...Andhaira dreamed....

Music: Cthulhu Rising

The small of river town of Bioware consists of simple folk, they were mostly fishermen who spent most of their time writing romance novels and dreams of homosexual relationships. But nothing could prepare the town mayor David Gaider on the sight that dragged his love partner, Mark Laidlaw beneath the murky rivers.

ct02.jpg

The City Watch attempts to search for Laidlaw, but found no trace of his body. Whatever that thing is...it must've consumed him whole. When the news reached Andhaira's throne room, the City Watch was told to cease any search. One who protested was thrown into the seas, rocks tied to his hands and legs, his throat stuffed full of fishes and other sea creatures.

46.jpg

andy.jpg
It's HERE MY FRIENDS!! *Does a twirl* ITS GETTING CLOSER! CAN YOU FEEL IT!

The scholars gave a nervous nod and continue their watch on the coast, just as their master instructed.

47.jpg

An ill omen indeed, as our sail boat finds the vampire kingdom of Calabim further west. Unlike the Lanuns, they are not willing to let us pass. The boat turned back to familiar shores, unable to risk the open seas.

48.jpg

Our scout made a daring run and succeeded in reaching Lanun borders, upon which the friendly tavern of sailors offered him shelter and lodging.

But there's much greater news at home....

49.jpg

A mighty psychic shout echoed throughout Bioware...sending its inhabitants into a psychic trance. The shout spreads out all the way to Retardoland, only Bethesda is spared from the Old One's voice....drowned in discussions of khajitt dicks and lusty lizard maids. The God King of Inanity rose from his throne, throws his crown onto the floor, shattering the gems into pieces.

andy.jpg
ABOUT FUCKING TIME! MOOOHAHAHAHAHHA! FU FU FU FU FUFU ! WITH THIS--- OH LORDDDDDDD OUR OVERLORDSSSSSSS ARE HERE!
