To get through the junkyard mission I built 10 or so scouts put them on evasive and rushed the objective.

You can try moving Carrier with sizable fleet of strike craft high above the derelict area so that it reaches the point directly above the relay, then unleash strikecraft pwnage on the enemy turrets and sensors, then have one dock with the array.

Junkyard Dog is destructible, but it took me about half an hour of chasing it with bombers, before I killed it. You'd have better luck gravwelling it and pummelling with combined power of your capships.

You can probably also try getting through the graveyard ultraconservatively with strike craft only, dropping a turret at a time, then docking with repair corvettes following the strike group.

Lastly, I don't remember if cloak fighters are available in this mission, but they are pure win.
