It's not as bad as I thought, but yes, it's lacking something.

The big reveal about who the Pilgrim's identity was just stupid, though.

There should be some story-thread twined the ex-captain with some other crimes just to make it exciting, plus the blue-pair finding the new house. The final scene of that sequence is lacking climax... make it like a filler.

Yea, it's the fact the dialogue and situations don't have the Alan Moore touch. Moore is one of the best writers in history when it comes to writing human characters and life-like dialogue.

Personally I didn't like the slightly hamfisted Patriot Act commentary.

Yea, we never really get anything out of the short-lived new captain except that he's a war veteran of some kind and a generic hardass who wanks to regulation.

His identity itself is ok, but it lacks all build-up and intelligence in plot structure.

But to then cop out and have him defeated by the least interesting character because she has hope in a box is beyond pathetic.

Yeah, especially since it's been established quite a while ago that Pandora's "box" was actually a large jar.

Still, I'd say the problem is that the writer really can't pull off 90% of the returning cast properly.

Yeah, it felt like they were all completely different people who just seem to look a like to the actual characters. Also, not enough Smax. Though with the :decline: of his character in Moore's last entry, it's probably for the better...
