The one thing i am confused about is the average gamer praising the combat.
It has shit ai,hp bloat,bugs,horrible encounter design ,no sense of movement flow(something that binary domain had and was also a cover shooter),auto cover system,and no weapon balance.

You're only right about horrible encounter design (which is beyond repair) and bad weapon balance (which will be fixed if ME3 is anything to go by). But ME always compensated for its weak spots with space magic. There's nothing you can experience in any other cover shooter comparable to playing as a vanguard or adept in ME.

For those who are confused about the lick test...that is actually a thing, in archeology if you're hunting for fossils, the most basic test is to lick it with your tongue, if it's fossil bone your tongue will slightly stick to it, with rock it won't.
