Gachas are unethical.

I do think some are run unethically, and that steps should be taken by developers to prevent overspending, but I don't necessarily find it as immoral as actual gambling. Customers know they won't gain anything of real monetary value. They're spending on JPEGs, so it's a loss either way.

Nowadays, a lot of gachas offer pity systems, where you're guaranteed to get whatever unit. So, you aren't gambling to get the unit, you're gambling to get a better deal on the unit than whatever the pity is. They usually make up the difference by offering skins for the units, or selling resources.

But straight selling a product is probably a lot simpler, yeah. I'd imagine you need your own merchant account to run something like a gacha, since people would probably try to refund all the time.

Hmm. I guess you could do a hybrid model: a gacha system in a game with nonpurchase-able currency, and sell skins for the characters while offering the characters for straight purchase in the game's store.

Porn is probably easier though.
