  1. HA HA IM PLAYING TEH ASS BROTOCOLS

Anyone else reminded of Deus Ex: Invisible War? Similar questionable AI and ragdoll physics at least. Thanks for the LP.
  2. What's with KOTOR and all the love for it?

You're wrong, Volly. The crafting was a lot better (unfortunately it also made shops and money pretty pointless), and the combat required a little more involvement. In the first game you could just Flurry your way through the game on any difficulty, but I found the second game "boss" type...
  3. What's with KOTOR and all the love for it?

It's a pretty good Fisher Price "My first real CRPG", and it's in a pretty familiar setting. Plus, you don't actually need to know anything about games to play; even a konsole kiddy can finish the game by auto-leveling up and just clicking the Flurry button repeatedly. The animations are okay...
  4. Soulbringer

I started gaming pretty late, so I missed out on PST... and I saw this boxed set including it and SoulBringer (this one ). Never heard of SoulBringer... would it be smarter to look for a copy of PST on its own (might be cheaper than the $49.90 GoGamer's asking for the bundle), or get the combo...
  5. Review Oblivion - The Second Opinion

Sorry? Twas a bland response, yeah, wasn't trying to offend ya though. Nice to see a friendly (nearby?) face of course. 8-)
  6. Review Oblivion - The Second Opinion

I live in Portland... yeah. And here's probably some Irish in me, but I'm mostly Spanish. :?
  7. Review Oblivion - The Second Opinion

Hmm... VD's review seemed even-handed, and the verdict somewhat negative, and this review is completely negative, but the verdict is basically the same (good for what it is, a casual action game).
  8. Ken Rolston Comes Out Of Retirement With Big Huge Games

Meh, I'm not a big fan of Rise of Nations, but at least it attempted to evolve its genre into something more complex. Meaning they're probably a better creative outlet. I think he was responsible for the more interesting/good parts of Morrowind, but this quote kind of killed any enthusiasm...
  9. Which Oblivion Dev Lied The Most?

I tried using that picture in a "Why does Oblibimans seem so small" thread, and it was met with "that's not what the devs said". :?
  10. MMORPGs vs SPRPGs Markets

From company or player perspective? For a company, enhancing quest-length by grind = more time spent = longer time spent subscribing = money. For the consumer, it's the competitive aspect with other players (I'm assuming) that makes it "worth it" to have something better. What I'm trying to...
  11. MMORPGs vs SPRPGs Markets

There's no competition in a single-player game... artificial length enhancements like grinding will just bore the player, since they're not going to be "better" than anyone else. Plus, there's no financial reason for a company to want someone to be playing their game in a year... they want to...
  12. Sex, lies, and video games

KotOR was 15-30, depending on how much of the dialogue you read. If you read faster than the lines were voiced, you got through the game pretty fast. Considering Mass Effect is going to be more action-oriented than BioWare's previous fare (Neverwinter Nights, KotOR), I'd think 20 hours is a...
  13. Mass Effect dialog system

The whole concept of interrupting someone isn't bad, but I agree that not really knowing what your character is going to say is a downside. Though there might be some factor we don't know (backstory choices maybe?) that changes things in the dialogue somehow (depending on what character you're...
