I hadn't put almost any points into weapon skills thus far, as you could sneak your way through absolutely everything until that point.
Nope. Not without constant reloads anyhow. You had your chance to respec after Saudi Arabia and blew it.

And yeah, the russian embassy... Oh well, what did I expect from an Obsidian game. Why should they go hostile and even more important, why the hell does the game say I killed them when they clearly were my allies in the final fight, and I sure as hell didn't friendly fire.
They go hostile because you broke into the building. If they were your allies, that was a bug.

Well I certainly did, I don't mind a few red arrows on my HUD if no alarms are raised. And I was supposed to know that after Saudi-Arabia I should change my complete playstyle?

Why would they go hostile if they didn't even know I was there? And that is not the point at all here, I was asking why would it be designed so that if you break in the game automatically assumes you killed them?

You don't have to change it completely. But you should have known after some of those setpieces (defeat Nasri's guards, secure the landing zone and board the chopper, destroy stryker) that you wouldn't be able to avoid combat entirely.

Because you leave through the front door, where the guards are.

Can't fix the balance or the content though.
Good thing that part doesn't need fixing :smug:
Balance needs serious fixing because it's a joke as it is.

True, but it never really pissed me off that much in AP. Probably because it's neither party-based or a multiplayer game which would make or break on its sense of balance. Is it annoying that stealth is hands-off mode compared to everything else? Yes, but it didn't make me want to drop the game in the slightest or get frustrated with it.

Hmm true, it still bugs me though. I actually replayed that mission and they were friendly again, and it would make no sense at all for them to be hostile in the final fight as I had just saved their boss and he clearly was on my side, and there was a shit-ton of armed dudes coming through the front gates. I admit that they couldn't know that I saved him and that as a whole I do not know if all this is because the game is a mess or if these are actual design decisions.

The same can be said for Torment and the Sith Lords so that's not going to stop an Avellone fan.

Bad twitchy gameplay is worse than bad non-twitchy gameplay :smug:

(Why? Because this is the RPG Codex.)

It's still more fun to shoot things in AP that it is to select all and click things in Torment or spamming force storms and flurries in kotor2.

One of those things is more like a game than the others.

You don't necessarily have to play it as a game of hiding behind cover taking shots at people hiding behind cover (I don't even remember too many situations that were like this by default). Toughness and heavy armor allow you to run and gun (or run and smash them in the face with your martial arts skill), with sneaking you can silently take down most enemies.

Also still more of a game than a screensaver. :)

So is AP worth a playthrough if I'm a MCA groupie ?

That depends. If you liked Descent to Undermountain or are partial to popamole, chances are you will like Alpha Protocol. If you didn't like Descent to Undermountain and you don't like popamole, you probably won't like Alpha Protocol.

It's worth a playthrough despite the bad combat, linear level design, and broken AI.
