ARMA isn't very good though.
Crysis is clearly a PC shooter with its slower pacing compared to console shooters that are nothing but firefights.
That's because those games were about taking a big gun and chaotically killing everything that moves. As for AI, I don't remember anyone complaining about the AI of Doom, Quake, Duke, Unreal, Far Cry.
And if anything, the nano suit made the game more interesting by innovating a bit on the formula. Your characer can die pretty quickly, and the nano suit was really necessary.
From the good arcade shooters."Dumbed down" from what?
MetalCraze said:Max Payne also could've died easily. He didn't need retarded cloaks, enemy radars and health regens to blast his way through a level filled with enemies. Dual uzis and some painkillers were perfectly enough.
His aiming is the only thing that isn't slowed down. Slo-mo or not enemy bullets hit him just as well. He won't regen after killing another two guys and even a single shotgun blast can take him down.Multidirectional said:Ah.. Don't tell me you actually forgot about the slow-mo ability in Max Payne. It slows down Max's movement too, yes, but not his aiming.
Enemies were noticing me only when I was coming within 4-5 meters of them. Now why the fuck would you go so close with an assault rifle designed to take down enemies from 200-300?Cloak in Crysis is powerful, but let's not pretend it makes you completely invisible. If you get close to enemies while cloaked they do notice that something is there and can start shooting in your general direction blindly.
Yes and that's the problem. Why can't I just fucking rush inside and kill everyone in 3 minutes like in good arcade shooters? No I need to fucking spend a minute killing only 4-5 guys due to a retarded gameplay and can't even strafe around like mad while doing so.Also you can't shoot while cloaked and need to get behind cover after every single shot if you want to stay unnoticed.
You can't experiment in Crysis. It's just you, the cloak and an assault rifle. No matter what you do you still cloak all the time, move in front of enemies without them seeing you and shoot them with your assault rifle. And I appreciate Crysis for letting me experiment with suit powers and environments to make my own experience. It's up to me to make it fun and I'm fine with it.
Health regen, quest compass, enemy radar, hide-in-a-plain-view - very fucking PC'ish. Oh you mean "personal console"?And certainly does feel like a PC game.
Wow 2 rifles, 1 launcher and explosives! Wow that's soooo much I lose myself in all the choices. And surely by two weapon limit you meant "two rifle limit" ? Because in addition to that you can carry pistols and a launcher, plus all sorts of explosives. Not the biggest arsenal there could be, but not the smallest either.
Since forever?Gord said:Since when is Crysis an "arcade" shooter?

Multidirectional said:Hey I'm just correcting you on your bullshit. It's certainly not the 2 weapon limit like in DNF. Don't bullshit and you won't get corrected. No need to get dramatic either.
MetalCraze said:Yes, when you run out of arguments you use:
"Cuz you have zero problems cloaking and killing enemies while they don't see you even if you are standing right in front of them - that means you suck"
MetalCraze said:You can defend your gradient of "tacticool" shit all you want
MetalCraze said:It's just you, the cloak and an assault rifle. No matter what you do you still cloak all the time
MetalCraze said:I'm not denying that it's possible to play the game on retarded difficulty without the cloak.
Turning off the cloak is called "experimenting" now.Multidirectional said:No, of course you're not. How could I ever doubt it?
By the way, what's retarded about highest difficulty in Crysis? That you need to be careful or you'll die quickly? Or that koreans actually speak korean? Elaborate.
MetalCraze said:It's when enemies start to absorb bullets like a sponge absorbs water while the player character can go down in 2-3.
As I said, I think in Warhead the koreans get nerfedMultidirectional said:MetalCraze said:It's when enemies start to absorb bullets like a sponge absorbs water while the player character can go down in 2-3.
It happens when you play with silencers. Also AI gets very dumb when you use them. Silencers are definitely broken in this game and should not be used. They probably shouldn't have included them.
It's an arcade shooter that isn't fun.
Admiral jimbob said:He's right about Crysis being pretty shit, though. I never played the original, only Warhead/quote]The original was about twice the length. It was also twice longer than it should've been. Yeah.
TBH the run-and-gunning in Warhead was more fun than in Crysis (not hard, since it was very, very shitty in Crysis) but Crysis did have a handful of levels at the beginning where you could stealth your way through. These were the best by far, especially the night escape... which of course ends with a shitty miniboss fight. Then the aliens appear and the game goes through the bottom of the barrel. And then you get the fucking escort mission.
All in all I found Warhead to be more fun thanks to no escort mission and generally less derp, and the shorter length. But it's still an inferior shooter, especially after Far Cry.
