Everyone who praises melee is praising Sawyer (he designed the melee system).

The man knows his brawlers. If he had worked on a spiritual successor to Streets of Rage instead of Bioware games, he'd be sitting pretty today.

There's something to be said about the variety of characters you get to interact with in AP. Heck was my bro when I was playing it for the first time as a teenager. Which is probably the optimal age since the writing takes some liberties in terms of cringe here and there. But overall all the closer quasi-companion characters are distinct. The only other game somewhat similar in terms of strength of the cast is Kotor 2, imo. But that has an entirely different companion design philosophy.
