So here are some of the main points that this developer believes will differentiate his game from other mmorpgs.
  • Setting is ancient Rome so as the game goes on future expansions can allow players to explore Greece, Egypt, Britannica, Jerusalem, and etc
  • Every player is going to get the Age of Conan treatment that you are special since you descended from a god
  • Public areas are open but pvp and probably everything else is going to be instanced
  • Going to be a theme park
  • There is progression just like pvp in sex so you are going to have to level yourself to have more abilities
  • Housing will exist and is a feature
  • Sex with other players is consensual so you can't defeat them in battle and humiliate them
  • It will follow the current industry trend of being a f2P which you get to not experience the adult content unless you are a premium subscriber
So it sounds like this is going to print money for this studio as they have something fresh to differentiate them from the market. So what does everyone else think about this game?

WTF, did this one actually get funded at Oddbeatr?

You used to work for Sony Online Entertainment making mainstream games, why did you decide to leave and focus on making adult games? Were you nervous about making this switch?

Decide to leave? It wasn’t my choice. Sony had mass layoffs last year. Unfortunately, well no actually, fortunately I was one of them. A sad event at first, it turned out to be a good thing. It freed me up to pursue this. I got contract work with another company while I wrote design documents and business plans for FoxySoft. When it came time to do some actual development, I jumped in with both feet and used my savings to develop Venus Rising full time from home. Yes I was nervous and still am. After all, I am putting everything on the line here. It’s like swinging on a trapeze without a net. But as I see the game develop, and my vision come to fruition, I am more and more confidant that it will be a good, fun, and successful game. Also, showing it to people like you and your community who are excited about it really bolsters my confidence. I don’t always get positive feedback though, in fact some people hate it and really pooh pooh the whole idea. But there is a saying in the game industry. “If you don’t have haters then you’re not doing it right.” So even the negative feedback is reassuring. It means people are talking about it and that’s always a good thing.

I don't see how content that is allegedly "more important" can thus exclude most of the playerbase. That guarantees that said content is marginalized. This is a fail.

Yea I figured if I wanted to do the unethical F2P manipulation I would as the lead developer allow people to do a few basic positions. Then open up a MT shop that allows people to pay more $$$ to get into the kinkier stuff and purchase passes that allow players to participate in orgies. So in a nut shell use the AO content as a gateway into getting people to pay more $$$ for the fetishes they might be interested in. Apparently this developer has missed the point of how to manipulate players using F2P method that many developers are calling the gold standard.

Why should I pay to have sex in a game, when I could be paying for sex in real life?
Well I see it as no different then people watching porn, but you do have a point as America has a thriving sex industry and quite errr affordable.....

There is progression just like pvp in sex so you are going to have to level yourself to have more abilities

This brings a whole new meaning to "grinding", if you know what I mean! HUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRR *snort*

Heh, even sandbox-full loot-free-PVP MMORPGs would probably have more female players than this shit. Player base would probably consist of: 70% - basement dwellers of worst kind, 25% - 13 year olds, 4% - chinese farmers, and 1% - hookers' advertisers.

I saw some screenshots, and it looks like some kind of cheap porn mmo.

Which means that perceived quality matches actual quality. :smug:
