- Xbox One, PC
- Xbox 360 version developed by someone else
- Planned to target current gen, but realized that they couldn't run it
- Started to look into next gen and the answer they got from Microsoft intrigued them
- They said they needed to focus on fewer hardware. In the future they are open to more. They don't specify if it would this project or another.
- Plan to use Microsoft's Cloud for dedicated servers and physics and AI calculations
- Spring 2014 Release Date
- To my eyes it looks visually very nice.
- First person shooter
- "Mech" and ground combat
- "Mech's" are called Titans.
- They want these Titans to feel fast. They can dodge etc.
- If you don't want to pilot the Titan you can have it follow you, killing people as it goes along.
- Player characters are called Pilots
- They are extremely agile. Can run on walls, multiple jumps.
- They can take down Titans. Jumping on them and shooting the "brain".
- You need to be cunning as a pilot. "Hit and fade" tactics is the term the game director uses.
- Pilots come equipped with a variety of weapons. Pistol, Assault Rifle, Anti-Titan Rocket Launcher, data knife used to hack AI characters into joining you.
- There are AI enemies on the maps.
- You survive longer than in COD. Making it more welcoming to newcomers.
- Source Engine. Building new engine = too much time.
- Source gives them 60 fps
- Rewrote aspects of it for next gen
- Article talks about the process of forming the team, being fired, prototyping ideas etc. I recommend reading it.
- Going for a District 9 or Blade Runner vibe.
- Integrate memorable single player moments into a multiplayer game.
- Storytelling style will be more Left 4 Dead.
- Humans segregated between Earth and frontier planets. Corporation trying to take the resources of these frontier people.
- Plan to use Microsoft's Cloud for dedicated servers and physics and AI calculations
A hot chick and a mech.
My inner 14-year-old has RESPAWNed.
At least it's not 'Murica against Brown people.
They figured out how to save Windows 8, call in the bro crew and give them this masterpiece. It worked great with Halo 2 and Vista..........http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/titanfall-will-have-dedicated-servers/
"We're using Microsoft's cloud compute initiative to run all our servers for it, so it's all running on dedicated servers," Owens said. "We'll spin up and spin down servers as necessary, and it'll do all the AI hosting and physics calculations and all matchmaking and all of that good stuff. It's all dedicated servers, all the time."
Titanfall looks like it will use the XBO cloud for the PC version as well, which -- if you read between the lines -- likely means that it will require the Windows 8 appstore. MS possibly going for the double exclusive.
Looks like they changed their minds and now it will be an Xbox One exclusive, which was also just confirmed on E3 press conference. A big disappointment as I was really looking forward to a PC release.
Oh, like CoD and BF and CS before they nerfed the bunnyhopping in CS, riiiiiiiiiiight.Because shooting from the hip is realistic.
Not like I care for the realism. Iron sights mean that the game isn't a fucking bunny-hop and twitch shooter. Great justice!

People still try to bunnyhop as much as possible in these games anyway. Obviously that's harder to do when each jump has a "feedback" period when you can't jump again, and the jumps are overall lower/worse to control, but nevertheless, it's very much present. It's a game style that fits console gaming, anyway.Nerfed the bunny hopping from Quake 3.Oh, like CoD and BF and CS before they nerfed the bunnyhopping in CS, riiiiiiiiiiight.Because shooting from the hip is realistic.

Looks like boring shit, as I mentioned in the E3 topic Iron Sights make no sense in a futuristic setting, in addition to them being simply shitty for multiplayer. That and the weapon selection looks bland as fuck, it's the future with giant mechas and epic space ship battles lightyears away from earth, here take this selections of standard gun shooting plain old bullets the ones you ancestors centuries ago were using. Oh but we have mechas now! Fuck your mecha gimmick, better and more vehicles were present in multiplayer FPS that are probably older than half of the COD playerbase.
Fuck this popamole piece of shit and anyone who thinks it looks good.
I also would like someone to explain how retarded it would look if you would have a relatively "authentic" game with modern military and people would be jumping/running/shooting like in those Quake games
And I'm happy to see that between this and BF4, the mediocre-looking COD: Ghosts will probably die an embarassing death.

Same song is heard for many years now before every COD's release. And each time CoD sells more and more millions of copies. After all Battlefield is just another Call of Duty clone except with tanks - and clones very rarely win. And Titan fail is xbawks exclusive so -60% sales.
Not really. BF3 has made a serious dent in COD's market. The growth rate of COD sales has slown down. It will plateau eventually.
Except it is what it is.And I don't think the target buyers (whose opinions determine the sales) of brown military shooters consider Battlefield to be "just another clone" of COD.
Titanfall is not competitive already. In the end, Titanfall and BF4 probably can't take COD individually, but combined, I think they will threaten the sales number of COD enough to get Activision worried.
