So, what, is that it? Is that the Reapers' grand motivation? "We're synthetics who destroy organic life top stop synthetics from destroying organic life."

And if crazy AIs really are such a threat in this universe, then all you did in ME was to remove this protection mechanism. Hawkesome. Although I thought the AIs were sentient in ME, so what is the purpose of maintaining the germ of organic life (specifically, by killing the individuals) at that point anyway?

I kind of agree. My main Shep wanted little blue children, but now it's not possible (maybe). The endings were like being stabbed with a knife (which is not that bad), but the Normandy thing is like twisting the knife.

My femshep wanted little white children with TIM so you know how I feel now.

Reaper's agenda makes no sense, they should have stood within the Citadel to warn every race about synthetics, eventually destroying the ones who failed to abide by their rules.

Totally right, but it is said they only "rape" life that is a starefaring civilisation with a big enough developed tech. In the last "cycle" when those Brotheans were reaped, the humans were left untouched. They just love organic life so much that they utterly destroy well enough developed species in a very brutal and perverse way, it's only for the bigger good!

In some twisted cheesy way, I really like what they have done with those reapers, I am satisfied. :smug:

I get that, sort of, but since the old races get killed anyway, why does it matter if the next ones are sentient AIs or whatever evolves from the remaining germ of organic life, especially given that the "organic life" option involves periodically destroying their achievements and inflicting massive misery on them? (maybe this doesn't make any sense, I think I broke my brian trying to grasp these SHADES OF GREY)

Because in "their thinking", such a singularity and the resulting AI would just eradicate everything, making planets, solar systems, complete galaxies void of life and ressources as it spreads out further and further - on the contrary to biological life, which always values ressources, ecosystems and the health of their planet and all.

Wait....

Well atleast that's the reasoning and I am ok with that.

ME3 should have a secret ending that's like the architect scene in Matrix Reloaded (or was that Revolutions? Whatever), except it's Shepard meeting Mac Walters. "So it was you all along!" Shepard shouts. He demands to know why everything is suddenly grimdark and his pilot is fucking a robot, and Walters strips naked and starts playing with his own shit and asks Shepard if he's emotionally engaged. Shepard sinks to his knees and says: "Now it all makes sense." Then he shoots himself in the head. Walters starts humping a Reaper.

There's no reasoning in this.

Our minds just can't properly comprehend the complexity of the reapers. :smug:

On a more serious note, this could be a big deal in our future too, ofcourse not that particular event, but who knows what some AI on the loose will do? Before ME3 I have only heard good things about AI-research, but the concept of this is popular as seen in various movies, books etc. In the end we are talking about some B-Movie game, don't take everything too serious and the game has a decent fun value. ;D

 And the reaping shit, what is that? Why not just develop better weapons while you're chilling in dark space and at least destroy the developed races in a mercifully humane way, rather than WAGING CENTURIES OF GRUELLING WAR AND TURNING THEM INTO GOO.

This is probably what Walters envisioned (and most likely wrote) for the ending of ME3, but the EA overlords said they couldn't put this into the game because of the obvious Adult rating the game would receive, thus hurting sales.

Masterfully skilled Biodevs masqueraded Walters' superb ending with subtle storytelling and cinematics, emotionally scarring you forever and causing irreversible brain damage to anyone that attempted to make any sense out of ME3's ending.

They make sure to totally anihilate those species and then form a new reaper out of their "minds" (wtf :D ) and their bioligical mass their death was not in vein.

FFS why am I "defending" this shit. :troll:

This isn't a children's story like WH40K. In the grim darkness of Mass Effect's future there is only extreme war.

Only a crazy person can find this shit logical and reasonable.

The attempt to attribute some higher meaning to genuinely random shit is a common human weakness. Trying to make heads and tails of what BW were thinking of is equally pointless because, despite their moaning to the contrary, they really can not into hard sci-fi. This shit in ME wasn't hard sci-fi to start with and it's been getting softer and softer with each iteration. From what I've been able to gather about ME3, it's gotten so soft that you could spread it on toast with a plastic airplane knife. I mean: dreams of a kid in the forest? Really? The only way that could get any worse is if, in the dream sequences, the Shepard model would be replaced with a Pedobear model. Probably the deviant wing of their fan club would welcome that with open arms.

Yes, because our minds aren't broken, unlike those of the Bioware writing staff.

Only a crazy person can find this shit logical and reasonable.
Maybe that's the legendary Bioware science expert. Remember there is a thin line between genius and insanity.

Wait.

What.

Are you fucking kidding me?

The Reapers are fucking Final Fantasy villains? Killing all life to stop it from being killed?

This is what it fucking turned out to be? After all this fucking build-up? This is the best they could come up with?

And why would you be afraid of the technological singularity? In my opinion, the question isn't whether or not it will happen but when will it happen. If you look into it a bit more, most people afraid of it are the same luddites who are afraid of technology even today, or who attribute ethics and morality to various technologies. That's a fallacy because technology and science have no intrinsic ethics or morals. That's the sole responsability of the user. If an AI will someday evelove past human intelligence levels and using that intelligence, it will determine that humans are shit and they need exterminating, then, instead of panicking now over how we could stop that from happening, how about behaving in such a way that when that AI appears, it won't come to that conclusion, but to the conclusion that humans have a positive influence on the planet/galaxy/universe and they need its support and protection?

Cannot wait for the DLC were you steal EDI from Joker. The whole thing looks like it just came out from some weird porno with robots... i think i'm going to bring her with me just for the dialogs.

Also, i can't wait to kill Tali.

Also, there should be some EXTREME renegade option to give her the final punch so she falls down.
