Shiiieeet so that be how it is. Ya'll love Skyrim so much you'd sit through a 20 hour Todd Howard fanfic reading. 20 hours be nothin when you got like 80000 hours clocked in Skyrim already. Todd better release Starfield soon so B-boys like you can obsess over something new so theres some variety to all this fuckin pole smoking. The fat nerd making these vids is gonna have to spend like 100 hours minimum to cover all those planets.
Why are you mad about people wanting to play video games?
Play a real game sometime B-boi and you might find out why I think you're dumb as fuck.

You don't know me or what I play, else you wouldn't be making such comments.
Being elitist about what video games you play, and getting mad at other people playing different games or playing differently, is the dumbest thing you can do. Especially coming from the same cardboard cutout /idpol/ 2hardcore4u retard who will play Horizon Zero Dawn but reject Disco Elysium based on whatever the dev was tweeting around release.

The fuck you talking about? I don't play walking sims and by the way Skyrim is one that only got popular cuz people could attach porn mods to it. Ackacakcak, this nerd think I'm mad he's wasting 900 hours walking around in some hiking game or listening for 20 hours of some dude waffling on about it. Also I don't play Disco Communism cuz it looks gay as fuck. If you want to read then read a book FFS, ever heard of it? Sounds like you're slurping that shit right up. No Truce With The Furries and Skyrim? Checks out.

I'm making him my bitch but I'm not into faggot bulgurs so even if his asshole craves big dongs he's not getting it. Whining about elitism on this fucking site, I swear these gays don't know where they are. They think they still be on reddit or something. Imma give it a break since I can't physically dunk his head in the nearest toilet which is how it would end irl and he's basic as shit. Crying over muh edge fucking lmao. Someone get that spider guy unbanned, he had proper bants.

You talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded, and if you ever met me you'd wish you were born a woman. And if these low octane tweets pass for banter or "making me your bitch", I'm guessing Skyrim is a bit too hardcore for you.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Anyone ever do a video on how vanilla damage works? Does Bethesda even know how it works?.

Watching this review did make me want to play Skyrim again, though. What are some good mods that won't drastically alter the game, but will make playing a mage fun?

Drastically altering the game is precisely what it needs. Vanilla Skyrim is just dumb as shit. I remember crafting a 2h hammer that killed giants in 1 hit, and if I hit them just right, the game's physics would totally derp out, and send the giant bouncing up high into the sky. Turned out if you ran the game at higher frame rates than 60, it screwed up the physics.

This video was better than the Oblivion one, because he doesn't launch into a ten minute autistic anti-Christian rant for no reason. He still goes off on a bunch of retarded tangents, though (take a shot every time he talks about Game of Thrones). You could probably cut 2 or 3 hours out.

The game isn't fixable, no matter how many mods you throw at it.

Too many mods and it won't run anymore. There's your fix.

I admit, the video did make me want to play Skyrim again, too. It's been years. Instead, though, I'm playing Arena.

"For no reason"? The whole point of using Christian theology (Satan, to be precise) served a purpose of showing how Mehrunes Dagon's role in the story of Oblivion got massively oversimplified by Bethesda. And he is not wrong in saying so.

He still goes off on a bunch of retarded tangents, though (take a shot every time he talks about Game of Thrones). You could probably cut 2 or 3 hours out.
It is only retarded if you don't care for the story (or internal consistency). If you do, then he is making some very in-depth observations.

Considering how people like Morrowind for its world-building, I'd argue that having sensible characters and story is kind of important, so he is correct in pointing out how stupid said story and characters can be and providing actual arguments (and in-game evidence) to support his position.

The point doesn't even apply between the two. Putting aside the extremely dubious claim that the "Satan" of the Book of Job is the same figure identified as the serpent of the garden in the Book of Revelation, the fallen angel stuff (which Patrician dubs a "retcon", displaying further ignorance of pre-Christian Israelite oral tradition) would make Satan more complex as a "character", not less, so this entire segment of his video could be cut out. The more fitting comparison is how Satan has been oversimplified into being the ruler of hell in modern secular pop culture, which is an observation that Patrician actually did make, but only after several minutes of irrelevant Reddit babble. And even then that observation is weak because Oblivion didn't even oversimplify Mehrunes Dagon because he wasn't complex in the first place. Here, look at all of Dagon's dialogue in Daggerfall:
"So you want power? Yes, many covet power, yes, but so few know why. Want you The Mehrunes Razor? Is very special, The Mehrunes Razor. Very nice, yes yes. Just, do one thing, and you have it, mmmm. Child have I that needs to be punished, yes. You will do this for lovely, lovely The Mehrunes Razor, yes?"
"Mmm, Mortalcreature brave, good good. Now, go to (dungeon), kill frost daedra there. It thinks safe, ha, we slaughter frostflesh tight and everywhere. You kill it and go (worshipper's description), (him/her) (worshipper's name) in (town). Got good good The Mehrunes Razor for you. Kill frost daedra and see (worshipper's name) before (time limit) Mundal nights. Go now, (player's name). Dagon waits."
"Ah, you're (player's name), yes? (worshipper's name) here. I understand you successfully corrected one of Mehrunes Dagon's straying children. Excellent. Well, here is The Mehrunes Razor you were promised. Enjoy it. I don't think that we'll meet again. Goodbye."
What a tragedy that they would "oversimplify" such a compelling character! It's not like all of the Daedra are just shitters who exist only to give the player fancy artifacts or anything. He can't be red! Muh lore!!

why are you using Daggerfall dialogue instead of stuff from Battlespire or Morrowind?
Because that's his first appearance. His Morrowind quest and dialogue are basically identical to what they are in Daggerfall:
"Why do you call on me, little mortal? Do you seek your death so soon? I should crush you where you stand, yet you show mettle by even approaching me. How ambitious are you, little one."

"Would you like a chance to prove your worth to me?"

If you accept:

"You are brave or foolish. Perhaps both. This, then, is your chance to prove your courage. My Razor, slayer of man and mer, scourge of all who stand before it, lies dormant. Stolen by an unworthy bearer, an elf of little courage or consequence, it lies unused, gathering dust in the Alas Tomb near Molag Mar. Return it to me, mortal. Prove yourself to be a worthy bearer of Mehrunes' Razor."

If you decline:

"I expected little else. Take your leave of this place or die where you stand."

After you complete the task:

"You've found my Razor. Good. Can you feel its hunger? Can you feel its frustration? Now, I will make it again what it once was, what it shall always be. Draw a line of blood across the land in the name of Mehrunes Dagon!"
Nobody has ever played Battlespire, but I did look at his dialogue there, too. It is pretty well-written and humorous, and actually makes me want to play that game now, but he doesn't seem any more complicated there, either. At least, from what I can gather from the player's direct confrontation with him. Maybe he's more nuanced and complex elsewhere in that game, from what you learn through other characters and lore books, but I doubt it. Even if he is, nobody has played Battlespire.

Battlespire is the basis for all interpretations and characterisations of lesser Daedra in later games, which is why it's relevant.

If you mod Skyrim (past the initial curiosity fuck) you are part of the Decline problem.

1) Extremely dubious claim or not - Satan is commonly interpreted by Christians as the serpent in the Garden of Eden (or Lucifer).

2) The reason why Satan is not seen as a complex character is because ultimately everything boils down to "Satan bad", which is how Mehrunes Dagon is presented and that was the point Patrician was making when using the comparison. You might say "then he could've said so in less words!", but then you miss the point of his "quick retrospectives". Besides, what he says is interesting, so it is worth listening to despite the extra length. At least in my opinion.

What a tragedy that they would "oversimplify" such a compelling character! It's not like all of the Daedra are just shitters who exist only to give the player fancy artifacts or anything. He can't be red! Muh lore!!
Just because Daedra started as "shitters who exist only to give the player fancy artifacts" doesn't mean it is not possible to mold them into more interesting characters (Sheogorath and the whole Shivering Isles, for example). Patrician proves this can be done, as he explains in detail how Bethesda could've handled Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion.

But if we've learned anything from post-Morrowind it is that Bethesda keeps aiming for less, not more, and simply isn't competent enough to do a good job when paid for it, contrary to its fans. It is visible not only in case of Mehrunes Dagon, but across the entire game and throught the whole series, as Patrician videos certainly prove.
