If you look at Obsidian's Jobs page, you will see a bunch of positions for a "highly stylized MMO."

http://www.obsidian.net/jobs

I would not be surprised if Feargus' announcement was related to that.

Would an MMO need a Kickstarter though?
Maybe they are looking to kickstart an MMO with no publisher involvement, so that Obsidian gets to keep all those sweet monthly fees/microtransaction payments?

They're not going to Kickstart an MMO.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I also don't share your certainty that Kickstarting an MMO is somehow worthy of an . There is nothing about developing an MMO that puts it outside the realm of a Kickstarter, imo.

Problem is, Wasteland has the whole "Western" vibe covered as well, so that's probably not a good choice.

They should take out a huge loan from the state of California and then go bankrupt.

Isn't Star Wars in EA's hands now?

Although they did allow Fargo to use the Wasteland license, so I dunno, maybe.

inb4 MCA's The Wire: RPG

Although it's probably Star Wars.
I'm pretty sure it won't be a licensed franchise.

The license for Star Wars probably costs more than the entire budget for PE.

My bet is that they will KS an old-school RPG that's not really old-school, but a dungeon-crawler that is definitely not a dungeon crawler called.... FIREDEATH!

I'm kinda hoping they'll go for something a bit different this time around. I'd actually pay good if they made a noir style scifi adventure that plays a lot like B.A.T. 2 and other similiar old school adventures (like Dreamweb and it Came From the Desert) with highly beefed up reactivity (c&c, story branching), interactivity and RPG mechanics that focus more on interactions with the world and less on combat (combat could well be akin to Wasteland with some simple visual cues, I wouldn't mind). Storyfaggotry, in some ways, but with great adventureRPG feel.

Megadungeon sounds great, fingers crossed the new kickstarter is the Time Travel RPG. I fucking love time travel.
