Working on a complete scene and then into combat demo etc...
Probably going to take a few casks of wine.

If I can get two units on a map to complete some turn based combat then we might be ready for something.

Those animations aren't that bad. How did you pull that off?

I didn't that's why it looks so good ;) .
A angry dwarf like me can only do so much.
The animations will be like the IE games "2D sprite based". Minimal 3D effects.
Over the next 2 weeks I will be making my sprite collection.

I hit a milestone today when the characters appeared in the map. The pitch video is only 147 seconds long.
Behind that video is about 1000+ hours of work (150 prototype maps at 5 hours per map + concept art, design notes).
This is a fun quest to be on with 1000 hours of gameplay and more to come (for me its 1000+ hours the game will last about 8-10 hours).

This shot below sums up the game. Art is the motion that ignites the imagination and the music is the emotion.
Design is where you make a classic game but no one will back a design document.

Humans are emotional creatures. Now to eat chocolate and drink some wine.

Some fun before 2 weeks of character sprite grinding.

I need to grind to level 34, bust out the wine.

Chocolate, wine and game development. Livin' the good life.
Indeed, wish I had balls enough to leave my current slave contract and do the same... It seems Apex is doing it just right, gj!

I have a normal job as well. Very stable. A key part for me is a stable supportive family life with a stable income so I can dig for the passion for art/game development.
My paid job may suck but its rock solid.

It has taken me 3 years to get my art right and myself in a happy creative space (my own garage space !).
And I totally love working on Ice wind dale style art/2D old school which is very important (#1).
When I make a break through its like finding that +3 sword.

Turn based Ice wind dale (art)/Xcom (gameplay) with a non linear approach.
Might happen.

Say, what format do you use for the sprites? They look very 3D to me.

They are in Lightwave 3D at the moment.
I prefer the sprite approach then the 3D model over a 2D background.
I will be more infinity engine then POE.

So boys is it going to be interesting to see me "fail" in my pitch.
Fail in style I say.

150 prototype maps and I will be pitching with 200. Tip of the spear below.
Bury them in Art.

Those are some pretty arts Apexeon. If the rest of your game making skills match up with them, I'll be excited.

I will not hype those skills (I hate hype). I am a raw untested developer but that is what Kickstarter is for, taking a $15 risk.
I can only promise "turn based or fail".

2D art is easy, seeing is believing.

Codex cares about systems, but normal KS people want to hear a real pitch, a concept that'll make them click the 15 buck pledge. Isometric+turned-based is enough for some, but it's a game system description, not "a promise of an experience". I'm sure you have a story and whatnot, so don't forget to pitch that too.

So all we see is art from you. Can we see your character skill and design for this?

My brother this year has stepped into the designer roll and is on the System at the moment.
A Rpg game does need more then one man.

The system is a modified Xcom (1994) combat and skill system. Very brutal to the point combat (critical hit system based on Roll master).
As soon as my brother has locked in the final pitch design I will post it up.
We are on a April pitch Deadline.

We take the rules pretty serious more then the art.
But someone has to do the dirty work of making the art.

Anyone played this it was called Moonstone.

This is what my world map will look similar too once I build it in 3D (it will be 2D just baked in lightwave).

I fucking loved Moonstone. The skinny blue giants in swamp area used to scare the shit outta me!

The death animations similar to Moonstone is what I want for Silkworm (working title).
Moonstone was one of my first loves (yer I am a art fag). Old school Amiga is where my gaming started.
Loved my Amiga and if I get some spare money I am getting one.

The death animations were pretty sweet, especially the be-headings!

It used to crush my young soul when the big blue guys brought their clubs down on my char and sent my legs sliding out sideways from my char's crushed body.

Looking forward to seeing your death animations.

Or when those big dudes in the desert would eat you!
Chomp chomp.

Back when combat meant something.
