Why did you stop copying the text in quotes here? I'm too lazy to click a link.
Spoiler: The DevDiary just links to year old updates from KS which talk about their UI.

Ja, auch kann ich nicht die eine Million wörter glauben. Das ist sehr blöd, aber das ist die moderne Videospielentwicklung.

That's probably terrible. Not sure about some word positions. Either way, they made a big fuss about the one million words thing and I wanted to use it as an excuse to practice my German, lol.

If your game has 1 million words, my marketing advice would be to be hush about it. It's intimidating and for 95% of the buyers it won't matter, because they'll only see a fraction of it anyway. But the preview repeatedly emphasized the old-school / hard-core credentials of the game.

They said it's "inspired by" Baldur's Gate 2 and Pillars of Eternity. Not sure how hardcore, or even old-school, those two are. Didn't watch it till the end, they might've said something different along the way, but I somehow doubt it.

One shtick of the preview was to mention grognardy aspects of the game and then follow it with a "but old-school fans will say: that's how should be - and they are right". For the mainstream audience (Gamestar is Germany's biggest mainstream gaming magazine) BG2 is old-school.

It's very fun the first comment on that video mentioning that "Classic RPGs like Pillars of Eternity (lmao)" are more like novels, while Twitcher is more like a film. I don't think any of those two scenarios are good, lol.

The girl in that picture must be based off Evangeline Lilly.

I watched one recorded stream for 5 minutes and the chick was ordering everyone to charge a bear in melee. They all died. The players being shit isn't so unbelievable.

You know when I see this kind of comparison, while certainly sometimes true, I cant help but think if you just draw a random face there is a decent chance someone out there looks like them. Its more about whether that random 1 in 7 billion person is famous for people to see the resemblance.

I've noticed some major video game characters being modeled after famous people. The most prime example being the ME series, where pretty much every major character is modeled after someone. It wouldn't surprise me if Owlcat were "inspired by" Evangeline Lilly for this chick.

That is good, in other similar games you can probably easily kill a whole family of bears. It is good that Pathfinder will also have early game melee monsters like BG1 had with bears and ogres.

Weren't NWN pretty famous for this too, to point where Bioware got their dannies spanked for it in court?

All artists draw from real people. It's a working standard. Don't remember anything from NWN. Viconia was a porn actress before becoming drow though.
