Does anyone play the grand strategy games from these folks?

I play Victoria and Crusader Kings.

The games are wonderfully complex and historically accurate.

Yeah, what's the big deal? You always do it and nobody raises any eyebrows.

Waiting for HoI3 myself. I have most of their games, Diplomacy and Rome is the exception.

Victoria and Crusader Kings are actually the games I think suck most by Paradox. HoI and EU is beyond great. Victoria feels like spreadsheet gaming and crusader kings is repetative beyond help. Breeding Kings looses funpoints by the second.

Noone wants to emigrate to brazil??? That's because *insert nationalistic and mildly racist joke here*

Anyone knows how to draw some immigration in Victoria? I'm in bad need of craftsmen and soldiers, I even have some industries with free job oportunities, but no one wants to migrate to Brazil. Why?

Too many diseases.

Seriously, what is your government type? How are your sliders when it comes to benefits, law and order, etc?

First research ideological thought and get a liberal party in charge, which will fire some plurality increases. Then get socialists in charge (more plurality inventions), once plurality gets above 50, max out all your social reforms (they don't do squat until you reach that plurality). And presto, immigration bonanza.

How do you expect to became an emperor of the world now when you must conquer 10 provinces instead of one? What I don't like is that their number is ridiculously high now, then again I hope they will adjust gameplay in line with this.

EU3 + Magna Mundi Mod > everything else.

Tried HoI2 and Victoria, but on both games, the interface is just too clumsy if you are used to the nice layers EU3 (about 2, I don't know) offers.

You should read the 35+ dev diaries; they give good insight on how Ho3 will (hopefully) work.

You seriously find these UI's clumsy? I haven't noticed a giant difference between EU3 and the two you mentioned really. Apart from the fact that HoI2 and Victoria are more complicated games.

Only thing I'm missing from the EU3 engine in Victoria is the mouse-zoom( and spacebar pause? ).

Too complicated for skyway :((

Did you see how many provinces USSR got? How am I going to level it to the ground now? It was pretty much impossible previously.

Well I saw screenshots after they surfaced and yes it's too many dev diaries, tl;dr - any short version on how province system will work?
From Kris' preview I also got an impression that battles are longer now which doesn't go along with my plans of nuking the world and making it a better place for the aryan race.

Battles do last longer, but you don't have to babysit them like you did before. You can see easily were they are heading and in the interface you can see a overview of all battles on tag.

IMO the increased number of provinces makes warfare more fun.

Just finished a playthrough of Victoria (with the Revolutions expansion) yesterday as my beloved Austria.

I'm still learning things about this game...had for a year at this point.

France didn't even finish in the top 8! Sweden-Norway wiped off the map by Germany/Russia... Finished 2nd behind (surprise) the UK. You simply don't win the game unless you take over British India...

Playing as Prussia then unifying Germany gives you a shitload of prestige, too. I think I once managed to be in front of Britain, even. But it makes everyone around you very likely to declare war on you, somehow. Haven't yet found a proper way of preventing all those bastards from declaring war on me over and over again after unifying Germany.

The computer is really too stupid to be any real threat in it IMHO. If you have decent profits, you can keep a huge army in reserve and simply steam roll it again and again after a quick mobilisation. I even managed to beat off Prussia as Denmark once.

I have won the game as Prussia/Germany too once. Alliances with Austria, Italy and Spain made France easy pickings, and luckily Russia never really amounted to anything.

I do agree however, that the game is the most interesting Paradox Game, but I can't say it's the best. Not even with the mod, whatever it's called.
