Come on, let's hear those impressions.

Personally I've heard that they spend a lot of time on cinematics and backstory. Bad idea imo. Also from what I can see the focus is more on action as opposed to adventure elements, and the environments are more linear. My prediction: not on the level of the Prime games (which are fanstastic) but probably still fun. So has anyone played it yet?

Metroid goes popamole. You regen not only your health by doing some faggoty concentration thing, but your missile supply, and it's quick enough to do in the middle of boss battles. Cutscenes are unskippable and as horrible as you might expect, they're focusing on Samus' HUMAN SIDE, which apparently revolves around her daddy issues with her former commanding officer. Early in the game, he calls her an "outsider" because she no longer works under him, and she cries because IT HURTS WHEN HE SAYS OUTSIDER. Good bounty hunter.

Zero Mission is the only Metroid I've played. Thought it was like Castlevania, but with all the fun and charm sucked out of it.

Well, in Metroid's defense, it did pioneer the style of gameplay that Symphony of the Night then "borrowed".

I would suggest giving Super Metroid a try sometime.

Fun fact: I have not played any Metroid games since Super Metroid.

Since he seems to like Castlevania*, I'd suggest Fusion. SM has too many moments where you're exploring with no enemies in sight.

Game is shit, bro, waste of bandwidth. Prime is miles better, Metroid is better when it isn't about Samus.

Also Fusion and Zero Mission is shit :decline: and didn't sell

And I always lol when people think Samus wasn't treated at sex object, hello, remember that bikini ? She was, and still is.......now with dat ass.

Well, at least you wouln't know during normal gameplay, the bikini was a reward for the more obsessive players that finished the game under 90 minutes.

@SCO: Hmmm. Well, I like the feeling of loneliness in SM. It's just that suggesting it to someone who thought Zero Mission was "Castlevania without the fun" doesn't seem likely to improve his opinion of the series, considering Castlevania is constantly throwing things at you.

Daddy issues? Does it mean that her daddy forces her to choke on his cock?

This sounds like some distress message from a broken space shuttle.

Nintendo feminized/emasculated one of it's most masculine franchises.

Metroid was once about solitude, a solitary and non social exploration of alien worlds, involving map charting and puzzles. That's what I loved about it. That samus was a female and had a tender and vulnerable side did not enter my mind. In the GBA game Fusion, she did have some dialogue, but it was oriented around a chess like engagement with a devious supercomputer, and the dialogue was concise and to the point, she even had one point dismissed someone with one line: "fool". I nodded in approval. She did not seem female to me.

I did not and do not care to hear about Samus's feminine emotions, and I do not want to be sexually aroused by her body, that is not what I play games for. If I wanted to hear about any introspective emoting I'd turn on Oprah, and if I wanted to leer at a woman's body I would watch porn. Fuck you Nintendo.

 oh gawd.

Can you picture any reputable superhero cowering in fear in front of a villain like that? I don't care what he did to your parents, you beat him once already, he killed them many years ago, get ahold of your emotions and go kick some ass.

Nintendo disrespects women, not to mention, alienates it's predominately male audience.

What a disrespect this game is to all who try to proudly embody the noble male spirit.

Jimbob, I think your friend may be dead... =/

I'll give this game a try, never got to finish fusion(?) which is the only one I've ever played. Got a bit boring after a while (though in it's defense I hardly ever manage to be gripped enough to finish a game nowadays), so if they changed things it might actually have a better chance of entertaining me.
