God damn, I was yelling "That damn priest is in the bar in the middle sector!" when you were waiting for him.

Another thing, I find it weird that you prefer to not fight yourself but use militia. For me the fights are one of the best part of the game.

Btw, FN FAL plus 7x Battle scope plus Bipod finally solved all my accuracy problems.

He goes to the middle sector? Word.

I do not fight because my team sucked, I had 1 doctor's bag, no mechanic, no access to more ammo (and NATO ammo doesn't exactly drop at this point), etc. Also, to save time. But there will be lots of fighting soon, at the SAM sites and cambria.

While watching your videos I was so overcome with the desire to play that I made a fresh install, applied the latest 1.13 patch and had a go at it. Got absolutely destroyed in the Drassen counter-attacks, so I restarted with a new merc, hired Steroid and Dr. Houston and then trekked west like you did.

After taking Chitzena and beefing it up with militia, I marched back to liberate Cambria, but unfortunately ran into MOAR EVUL PIPULS and had to retreat eastwards. Around that time the Chitzena mine started running out of gold, so I figured I pretty much had to keep fighting for the new source of income or die trying. Since I was short on firepower, I decided to sell Dr. Houston to the disgusting hicks. Not exactly my proudest moment, but the extra juice came in handy.

I have currently liberated four sectors which I am trying to hold while recruiting militia. If all goes well, I should be able to make a final push for the mine. Suffice to say, I'm having a lot of fun.

Oh, and also: UPDATAN PLZ!

The enemies reinforcing the sector your mercs are attacking is a pain in the ass. You can be involved in a fight with the main garison in the sector, and boom, next turn and there appears like 5-8 guys at the side of the map. Its super deadly when you just entered the map and are still very close to the edges of the map. Sure, they get 0Ap the first turn but try killing all 6 of them in one turn.

Part 6 uploaded.

But we have a very serious problem. My game crashes whenever I try to remove any attachment. I had this in previous games but it only seemed to affect weapons that the mercs came with, not the stuff you found or bought.

This time however, it seems that it affects everything. For example, using a grenade launcher crashes the game since the grenade is an attachment and it is "removed" when fired. I assume the same happens with mortars and rpgs.

I'm just not sure if I want to continue the game with that sort of handicap.

What I was thinking was that I could wipe the installation, install the latest svn (the one I'm using is from October) and see if that works. But I don't think the saves can be transferred. So what I would do is play more or less the same game off video until I got to the SAM site, and then start recording again.

Well, if thats the only sensible option and you are willing then go ahead, play if off video and continue when you manage to get to the point this LP stopped.

If thats any consolation, Im playing the latest svn (Ok, not the very latest, from 5 days ago) and I have no problems with attachments.

Where did you get it? The svn I was using is apparently no longer updated (still at 5520) and the new 'official' one doesnt have an exe.

Then I will try a fresh installation with a fresh svn copy and check if it works. If it doesn't then the crash may be WINE related and I'm probably screwed. But it's weird that it used to work.

Just watched the shopping in Part 6. Damn, so many cool new toys. I'm definitely restarting my current attempt at soloing the game with a single character now.

Specialist is only one level higher than Private (The lowest one) so they are not that dangerous. The next ones are: Corporal, Sergeant and Major.

As for the traveling one sector at a time. I use a neat little trick when I want to avoid a fight. When you march into a sector and there are enemies there, just enter and spawn your whole group right next to an edge of the map on the side you wanted to travel. Then select them all and move your cursor to the edge, a new icon will appear and you will be able to leave the map without fighting. If they follow you to the next sector, just do the same thing and continue to go in your desired direction.

I didn't know that. I thought specialists had a higher chance of having things like sniper rifles and machine guns.

Anyway, part 8 uploaded. A short and sweet battle for SAM site 2.

That Impostor guy was one of a few (6) terrorists hiding in Arulco. You get a quest from a guy named Carmen Dancio (Or something like that). He gives you floppy disc with photos of all the wanted terrorists and a machete. To get money you need to find those terrorists, kill them and then chop their heads off with the machete and bring those heads to Carmen. You will get some nice money for each head. Their locations are random through the whole map, only one of them is always in the same place.

Carmen should be in a bar in Drassen middle sector, or in a Bar in Cambria, the sector where you get the Kill Hicks quest from a shopkeeper.

Yes, I explained it poorly.

Anyway, does Cambria have its own counterattack now? Because I got attacked by some 60 dudes, 30 of them elite. And once again, the militia can't do anything. The LP is thus delayed a bit while I figure out what the best way is to dispatch those fools.

I dont think that Cambria has its own huge counterattack. I think it might have been just a bad luck that some groups of enemies joined together for and attack. But the 30 elite is weird. Im playing on the same difficulty level and have taken Cambria already without anything like that happening. I just took two sectors then trained militia then took the rest. There were some counterattacks but nothing on the level of 60 guys.

Maybe you could try killing some of the groups of enemies on your own before they attack. Or maybe you could try to bring all the mobile militia to Cambria and around.

The best part? The cat going berserk in the background.

Oh, and you really should rename this topic to Lets train more militia in Jagged Alliance 2. 1.13 :smug:

Yeah my cat can be pretty annoying.

I did it with militia because it's the fastest way. Usually I take all town sectors with mercs and then use militia to ward off attacks.

So I'm not sure what to do now? Should I take the rest of the cities? Or just go to Meduna? I've never actually finished the game before

Well, if you want to attack meduna you will need some Anti Tank weapons, LAWs or Mortar. And Im not sure if you would have an easy time, lots of elite soldiers with good weapons. I would probably take another city, Grumm or Alma and defended for a while to acquire enough funds to hire some good mercs for a week. Also, buy AT weapons if available. When you will have a decent team and a good equipment you may try and attack Meduna. If it is too difficult just reload.
