Anyone know what weapons thieves can use? I tried equipping longswords but it wouldn't let me. What's the best weapon a thief can be equipped with?

Shadowed Daggers. But their ranged weapons are bombs from Tinctury, and Alchemist shops. Check the Aromas section in Market. Derp! They are all for robbers. Thieves only use the pistols as ranged weapons. Or the most basic smith weapon, you know, the pointy blade.

And motherfuckers! The thieves guilds in my city kidnapped me. It's very annoying that I cant use my Watchmen/guards to attack their dens. Prolly have to change to thieves profession to kill them, monopoly the field. And if what I suspect is true, must change to robber career to finish off those robber barons.

Might be a bit before I can put together a proper update. Just had a flop with the screenshots I was taking, they suddenly restarted naming to screenshots 001, 002, etc, and overwriting my earlier ones. I had taken many more screenshots before with no problem. I'm going to invest in Fraps next time. I overwrote my save so anything that happened in the earlier part of my play may remain undocumented.

Yeah, I just jumped the gun and assumed someone with that rank would have enormous liquid assets.

I dont think kidnapping worth much. The big money in your thief career is to check out the a series of biggest manors in towns, and keep attacking the weakest AND nearest to your hideout. In my thief game, the two manors nearest my Den receive my tender care continuously.
Kidnaping is for politic, if your Appointers dont like you, kidnap them. Leave only the most favoured.

A good thing about kidnapping however is that it requires no time spent on reconnaissance.​

I've been trying to play today and the game has been incredibly crash-happy, to the point of being unplayable. Started happening around the 50 year mark. Not many interesting events to warrant a new update either. If I can govern my dissatisfaction I may try to figure out a work-around.

I couldn't say for sure. I know that with the thieves guild, I could change weapon load-outs after building a storeroom.
