Did anyone ever play Jagged Edge after patches? The impression I get is that there was a game worth playing under there, if only it got cleaned up... T/F?

What people don't get: It's so infuckingcredible hard (sorry for the language) to compete with JA2. For several reasons. One being that after 1.13 it became a great game (hey, honestly, Vanilla wasn't that great after all even if it got some high marks). The other being the needed resources compared to the chance of success. I know, the diehard-community sees itself as "we are the mass" but honestly, no, you aren't. Sorry to say so. Back in Action was a first step into a new Jagged-generation in the end. Also we ourselves weren't sure about the possibilities of the franchise. Why you think not Electronic Arts or other companies have bought the license? Yeah. They weren't sure either. Now we are I think. And no, I don't think that Back in Action was (actually is. It's still being worked on

) the end.

Looks like it sold enough for them to do a sequel.

Makes me ashamed to be a German.

That would be too bad.

It's so infuckingcredible hard (sorry for the language) to compete with JA2.

It's too infuckingcredible hard to compete with JA2. But when you got the license cheap, you have to do something with it
Competing with Commandos was still within their ability, but if that fails, they can sell JA2 condoms and coffee mugs.

Jesus, guys. I forgot about this abomination already. Don't mention it ever again, please :( It's too painful.

And that fucker's arrogance is simply astonishing. "We own the license now, so we are free to take the franchise wherever we want. We don't care about the die-hard community, because hey, you can't give us enough jewgoldz. Sozzy. And JA2 was shit anyway."

I think it's quite likely that a proper tactical RPG, inspired by Jagged Alliance (just under a different name) will appear on kickstarter, sooner or later.

But the name "Jagged Alliance" is dead. The respective owner can do what suits them best with the license, i.e. stick it in their anus.

So he basically admits that they don't have the talent to compete with modders who improved JA2 in their spare time with next to no resources.

At least he's honest with this now. Not long ago they still tried to make it sound like they were going to improve JA2 with the real time system.

Are they actually admitting to the JA2 fans that they have failed?
If so, it's a pretty touching and all because the only answer it warrants is: I told you so.
(Not to mention they were told the specific reasons why throughout the development process of their "product").

Wonder what the next step's going to be. JA: Back in Action for Realz this Time?

That's a really strange thing to say. I thought all you needed was to make it real time, remove the fog of war and other unnecessary mechanics and this outdated casual game for change-hating nostalgics will be completely modernised

That's why developers don't open source games. They know they can't compete with the community.

They admit that their game fails to even compete with JA2, much less make it better, for the hardcore JA fans. The rest of that quote sounds like they made enough money with this to warrant further games. So they didn't "fail".

At least they're honest (now). I'm still waiting for Toddler to admit FO3 is shit and cannot compete with FO1/2, but it sold great, so fuck the oldschool FO-fans.

To be honest, that's how I understood it too.
They made enough money with it to not call it a failure.
Unfortunately.
I guess there were simply too many people who liked JA2 and bought it, plus others who didn't know JA2 and bought it too.
This is not because of supply and demand at all, cause if there is no supply at all, all kind of strange things can happen. A bit like in prison, where straight men turn homo. Before they die of starvation, people begin to chew the bark of trees.

Starvation? But... but what about 1.13? He even admitted that it's leagues above anything they could do to JA!

Also, there's always the Russians. Buggy and slightly flawed games, yes, but at least 7.62 had a RTwP system that worked reasonably well and lots of gunporn...

Father Walker

Shows that michael is clueless, and all his information is 2nd hand.
In the beginning he probably didn't even know what 1.13 is, now he uses it like a mantra.
And how could it be otherwise, considering the game they just conceived.

1.13 has lots of cool stuff and more weapon variety than you'll ever need but the NCTH and specially the retarded fact that you can't hit a barn door past very short ranges without optical sights even with a merc having the best marksmanship skill just sucks. Iron sights aren't that bad for accurate shooting in trained hands and rifles like the SKS have adjustable iron sights up to 300 meters. Hopefully they will eventually fix it.

Also 1.13 AI loves to do things like running past your mercs without stopping to shoot at them once in a while.

In any case I bet they are as much "dedicated fans" of the series as the ones behind Desu Ex: Human Derpolution and Thi4f.
