Was there anything in Heroes 3 stating that they were aliens? Before I played the regular Might and Magic games I always took them to be from Hell. Remember, the bitching about all this was from people who only played Heroes and not the MM games.

When spell research is enabled, the Town Portal and Dimension Door do not drop in the normal guild slots without research, but are guaranteed to drop if 3 research attempts have been made before
Another huge change and I don't know what to think about this one. Makes things more "fair", maybe, but also makes earth into an even more of a mandatory skill.

I've also noticed they've strongly nerfed some of the sneakingly good heroes (like Luna).

At this point I think they should really include a general "no balance changes" button in the launcher.

Saw a showcase fight of 1 year growth factory vs inferno, no spells nor boosts from hero stats/skills. WITH the enormous caveat that factory did not have their t1, but both t7 instead.

Factory won with one stack of thirty-something t7 robots standing, which is an impressively horrible result. Looks even weaker than I've initially assumed.

Is it really how balance is measured in this game?

Anyway, a nice overview if someone is interested. I have not touched the game beyond the first week of the campaign. I'm not practiced in this sort of bullshit at all, so I can't judge, but seems fun to figure out.

Hmmm... I think I've accidentaly discovered an AI exploit allowing me to just block Zog inside his town.

His town has no creature buildings, so I will just gather units to punch through his ultimate giga alphastrike of sudden death.

Exploit strats. This is the true HoMM3.

Actually, it's worse than that. Some maps are simply impossible to beat if you make a single bad choice.

I don't think there's a non-exploit way to beat Zog without maxed out air magic. You have to repeat the scenario if you didn't level-up in a specific way.

He's quite happy to leave his castle empty for you to capture it, thought it'd help but he has expert ballistics.

Managed to do it with air magic in the end.

I've heard that Kastore is mentioned in the campaign. That's a nice nod to the lore.
Factory was intended as a less extreme version of the Forge. I'm still not sure what I would prefer in the end.

Shame the HotA team are done with the project. There probably room for one faction more. Cosmic horror town maybe?

In an interview with Gregory Fulton (rus.), one of the lead designers of Heroes of Might and Magic III, he stated that Angels and Archangels were originally planned as sophisticated robots created by the Ancients to exterminate the kreegans.
