Gears of War. The story distills enough stupid to really feel like a modern blockbuster.

Else Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Batman: AA is even a good game.

Bioshock would be a far better movie than it was as a game.

Up to 3/4 of the game, you mean. Because the final part, even from a cinematic/story point of view, was complete rubbish.

As for Crysis story... yeah it's as good as the most stupid blockbuster hollywood movie you've ever seen.

I actually wish modern Hollywood blockbusters were half as good as Mass Effect 2. From a cinematic point of view, the suicide mission is one of the most epic and climactic sequences ever. The buildup was amazing and there was a real sense of excitement and tension when Shephard and Co. finally went into the Omega 4 relay. When Shephard gave his final speech at the Collector and the badass soundtrack kicks in, it was one of the finest moments I've experienced in gaming (from a cinematic perspective).
Cudos for liking the most moronic part of Mass effect 2.

My recommendations for not-completely-lame hollywood style cinematic games :

Max Payne 1 & 2
Medal Of Honor : Allied Assault
Mafia
Call of Juarez
Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory
No One Lives For Ever

Bullshit. MW2 was horrid, the first one was far better.

And then you're hit with shame, guilt and loss of KKK as you realise how captivated you were by a Biowarian porn grade storyline?
The storyline itself wasn't captivating, it's just that it allowed for some cool cinematic moments.

I agree about MW2 being terrible, the first one had a lot more cool missions and sequences.

No, unless your idea of a good game involves spending half the time crawling through ducts and having a stupid color filter turned on the entire time.

Why the shit would you turn detective vision on the entire time? Also:

Because the game provides you with no meaningful reason not to. It boils down to a dumb choice of hindering yourself for the sake of avoiding some shitty visuals.

Bullshit. ME2 owns. Can't wait to finish the fight in ME3!

I completely agree with you, and this was my point, that the piss-poor gameplay ruined a good story, even given that the story falls apart toward the end. 75% (3/4) of a good movie is still "far better" than 25-30% of a good game.

Arkham Asylum sans detective vision

The fifteen minutes of Uncharted 2 I played were good for what they were. It might qualify.
I also think Grim Fandango could've made an awesome feature movie. Someone hire Pixar to make that one for me, please.

Although NOLF is a superb game and one of my all-time favorites, is it really modeled off of "Hollywood blockbuster action films"? The game is so zany that I have a hard time imagining it as a summer action movie, even of the self-aware, tongue in cheek variety.

It's more modeled after the British school of film-making; it's absurd, full of tongue-and cheek humor and satirizes the spy-genre. It's almost like a less parodied version of In like Flint.
