Under a competent, native English speaking writer, this could be good. But Polacks just cannot into good writing. We already saw that in Witcher 2. Totally bland and soulless writing.

What happened to your profile portrait, mondblut?
My guess: Having no profile pic nets you 25 Kodecks Kool Points or something. If making numbers go up requires removing the picture, away it goes. It was an obvious mondblutian optimization :obviously: (but yeah, bring back that Celtic Tales avatar).

Stanislaw Lem's mind-uploaded entity, stored on floppy-disk in CDP office, will help with writing this time around.

What happened to your profile portrait, mondblut?

It rests with dignity in the monocled gallery of gentlemen portraits, awaiting the day this abominable untermensch decline of "custom avatars" is finally purged with fire.

This is especially helpful since http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/data/avatars/* is happily adblocked from day one, saving me from the eye-splattering idiocy and raving faggotry most of the avatars must be sporting by now.

Actually, it was introduced weeks after the forum went up. Meanwhile, I decided to boycott the custom avatars from day 1.

Besides, I don't need achievements, the only numbers going up that matter are the numbers that matter. It's not like these 25 points would give me any plusses to verbally grinding storyfags, all those skills are already maxed.

(but yeah, bring back that Celtic Tales avatar).

Most certainly. As soon as the gallery is back in and the custom avatars are out.

I'm intrigued. Just to remind them what made this genre awesome.

I have to say this news really took me by surprise in a positive way.

Cyberpunk is an awesome PnP system. Tarn Adams of Dwarf Fortress fame cites it as an inspiration, especially for the way it handled damage (no hitpoints).

The artstyle being '80ies is an excellent thing, since the whole literary subgenre was at its peak then.

Quite surprised by the negative comments on the 'Dex. Of course the chance is high they'll mess it up, but there is room for cautious optimism here.

Even if it's some shooter, if they nail the feeling right, it's going to be enjoyable.

At least you know they're not going to be selling DLC clothes. You can say what you want about the gameplay in the Witcher games, but CD Projekt Red have got two things right that so many other companies are, in my opinion, failing miserably at: free post-production DLC/updates and no DRM and that is why they're likely to continue getting my money.

Divinity: Original Sin Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Well I can't edit the first post so:

The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has unveiled an all-new role-playing game based on Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk pen-and-paper RPG system. The game is currently in development by a second team at CD Projekt Red in Warsaw, Poland by "seasoned developers."

Speaking about the project during its annual summer conference, CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski said the new Cyberpunk RPG is a "dream come true." Firm details on the project were not made available, but Iwinski said the game will be a "mature RPG for mature audiences" that features "realistic and brutal" action in a futuristic universe.

Iwisnki also said the new Cyberpunk game will boast a non-linear narrative filled with "life and detail," as well as a varied selection of character classes. Lastly, the developer said the new project will sport an arsenal replete with weapons, upgrades, implants, and other high-tech toys.

No release window or platforms were named for the project.

I watched the announcement live today in an official livestream. I can't believe as a gaming enthusiast that one day in my life I would learn about an announcement for a new game from a press conference I watched live. It's like I was movie fan hearing about a new movie from my favorite studio.

Strangely,

I haven't played Cyberpunk, but I remember reading lots about it in Magia i Miecz back in the day (a potato pnp mag, really good and, unfortunately, extinct for a long time now). If it's more like Twitcher 1 than Twitcher 2, I'll be happy

Most importantly, it makes an effort to have lethal, more realistic combat, and has a superior damage system. There are no hitpoints, damage is localized and one shot can kill even experienced characters.

i'm reading through the rulebook, and the first concept it lists is 'style over substance', normally clothes dont matter in an adventure, but in this one it does. do i get to buy a house in this game too?

the styling sucks too, its supposed to be about fashion yet theres no dice roll results for tracksuit pants and sock and thongs?

Looking at how PnP systems have been translated to cRPGs in the past, I wouldn't hold my breath for things like
it makes an effort to have lethal, more realistic combat, and has a superior damage system.

Especially if it's going to be an aRPG.

Well, coming from CD Projekt the gameplay part will undoubtedly be shit, but I am not entirely opposed to seeing digitized boobies.

I asked God to deliver me a Cyberpunk RPG, and he send me the Poles. Poles, I bow before thee and pray you to deliver me Incline. Please. Really. Pretty please.

For those interested. The art that was showed (the guy with the mohawk) was a GIANT hint that this was Cyberpunk 2020. I just checked the handbook. The guy (only with normal hair) was on one of the pages, exactly in the same pose and background.
