[ Announcement ]

АГЕОД релеазе дате!

The Russian Revolution begins November 23rd !!

According to recent forum posts, AGEOD is churning out games like sausages, and Revolution Under Siege will be released as soon as November 23rd.

REVOLUTION UNDER SIEGE (RUS) is a simultaneous turn based historical wargame that puts you in charge of one of the factions that fought the Russian Civil War (1917-1923).

From a ragtag group of volunteers create the powerful Red Army, using all the weaponry and equipment at your disposal: planes, tanks, armoured trains, Cheka troops and the Konarmia (the famous Red Cavalry). Or, on the opposite side, gather all patriots and reform the elite divisions that shall save Holy Mother Russia. Can you succeed in crushing the Bolshevik hydra? Or will the People's Revolution prevail?
Several sides are playable: Trotsky’s Red Army, Denikin’s white counter-revolutionary forces of Southern Russia, Kolchak’s Siberians, Finnish from both sides, or the newly independent Polish troops led by Marshal Piłsudski.

The game uses the AGE engine, famous from AGEOD's American Civil War and Rise of Prussia, renown and awarded wargames.

Features:

A map of unrivalled precision from Poland to the Pacific Ocean.

Meet again our know-how for historical realism: hundreds of officers and units are faithfully transcript in the game.

Politics, requisitions, revolts, repression: Gain support of the population or pressure them with your political police.

Cleverly use the brand new weapons of the time: tanks, armoured trains and aircrafts.

Recruitment, organisation: Create massive armies from groups of volunteers and send them to ambitious manoeuvres and victory.

Can you capture Lenin or eliminate the different White leaders?

Use diplomacy to trigger foreign nations entry in the war. New allies will endlessly change the course of your games !

Find out unique campaigns covering each one of the years of the war in Russia, as well as the Finnish Civil War (1918) or the Russian-Polish war (1920). Or rewrite history with an ambitious « what if » scenario.

Announcement | Teaser Video | The Die Is Cast

Spotted @ AGEOD

Cool, I wonder if you can play as the White Armies and turn Russia into a fascist nation :D

Bastards stole my idea! Anyway, great news, even if AGEOD games are fucking arcane.
Still I'll struggle through to make sure the Revolution succeeds gloriously and free Poland from the yoke of reactionary oppression!

Have Georgia fielded any army worth mentioning? Other than Stalin of course, but he is more of an one man army.

Russian civil war just isn't the same without crude steam-powered mechs. And multiple Masodov references.

Yes, it's a province of the Russian empire as it should be.
It there any way to change that, according to game mechanics? Secede, or whatever?

Georgian armies defeated legions of nomadic invaders, vastly exceeding their numbers.

No, it's more of a wargame based on the situation at the time, not a geopolitical simulator like a Paradox game. Georgia is just counted as a province to be fought over, sometimes belonging to the Whites, other times the Reds. Only civil war and impact on neighboring countries is modeled though it DOES say that there will be a fantasy 'what if?' scenario or something so maybe there'll be something extra there.

Have been playing the demo a bit, my impression is extremely good. The Russian revolution is an excellent choice for a game of this scale. The first game since AACW that makes me feel I'm in control of a truly grand campaign. All the original features of AACW (like historic commanders, attrition, railways and river transport, activation etc) fit ideally into this setting.

From the frist impression there is a extremely complex game on a huge map of Russia, with hundreds of personalities, units, events. There are even airplanes and tanks (and of course armored trains), you can requisition units like in AACW etc. Browsing a bit through my assets I found commanders like Lenin, Kamenev, Stalin, Frunze, (among many yet unknown personalities), there is even the Romanov Family in Ekaterinburg that presumably triggers a loss of NM if captured (?)

Map and unit graphics, sound and interface are again top notch this time, like in AACW and BOA2, and not like in NCP or ROP where they were a bit amateurish.

What I enjoy most is the athmosphere, this strikes me as the perfect game for the christmas break, together with movies like Doctor Shivago.

I wasn't really interested in the ones set in America for thematic reasons (plus the one I tried was really clunky) and then the WW1 game got a lot of bad reviews, so I haven't played their system much, although it seems promising.

RUS has nothing to do with the WW1 game except the AGEOD name.

WW1 was programmed by the same guy that made Great Invasions and uses his own engine, also originally written in Great Invasions. That engine is - imo - one huge piece of crap.

RUS is programmed by Phillippe Malacher (Pocus), graphics are by Gilles Pfeiffer. There are other, new people involved whose names elude me at this moment, but it seems they were beta testers and they invested substantial money of their own into the project. RUS uses the the AGE engine, the same engine from from AACW, BOA1+2, NCP, ROP, and it's a very good engine.

Downloading this again now - my first download was corrupted.

I've bought several AEGOD titles, and I agree WW1 was an aberration. All the others have been great.

Been waiting decades for a decent Russian Revolution game..

As far as I understand you can play the Reds, the Southern Whites, The Siberian Whites. I am not sure about the 'Greens', Entente and Germany, but they may be playable as well.

There is also a fictional scenario in which Imperial Germany wins WW1 and invades Russia, sort of a WW1 Barbarossa.

I think there will be a lot of replayability, more than enough in fact. I said the same about WiA and I haven't even had time to play the French Indian campaign.
