Game News Baldur's Gate 3 Community Update #15: Patch 7 - Absolute Frenzy

Looks like he's about to hit someone over the head with a bike lock.

Why are so many Codexers like this?

I don't understand how anyone can pirate a AAA game in this day and age. They're all broken out of the box. Then you have to rely on pirate patches? I doubt those work. Not to mention the fact that you're downloading gigs at a time trusting it will work. That's probably the main thing that...

The Codex’s Best Computer RPGs (pre-Diablo)

Gotta award what I've played the most. (2 pts each) Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar (Origin) BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception (Westwood) AutoDuel (Origin) The Bard's Tale 1: Tales of the Unknown (Interplay) Champions of Krynn (SSI)

Incline Favorite cRPG cover art/boxart/promo art

It goes without saying . . . I always thought this was the coolest cover ever: So all I had was a Sega, and this was my favorite game for it: With this one a close second:

Card-Based Marvel's Midnight Suns - Marvel universe card-based tactical RPG from Firaxis

That Enter Sandman cover was rather metaphorical. Take the essence of something great (while ignoring the better choices in the catalog) and then reduce what you have to a beige nothingness. Present it to the audience and pretend it's something wonderful and new. And do they use that shaved...

    King's Bounty II

Glad to see this one is coming back! Preferred it to HoMM, which pretty much expired at 3. (Though 5 is cool with all the expansions.) King's Bounty and Space Rangers killed so many hours for me. Seems like they were out at about the same time. I never saw a Space Rangers 2. Wait, 3? Maybe I was...

Interview GameSpot Play For All 2021: Swen Vincke on Baldur's Gate 3

Eh, looks suspicious. The cutscenes were nothing but fierce women. I hope it's not yet another Bechdel test disguised as entertainment. Mechanics looked cool though. We'll see . . .

Mod News The Old World prevideoing from Captain Shack

Seems strange that there still isn't a turn-based Warhammer Fantasy game. Not grand battles or first-person swordfights. I've seen those . . . I mean, where's the proper party-based game? Unless it's really out there and I'm assuming it's some sort brawling action game.

Auto Fire - turn-based vehicular combat

Looks like Origin's Autoduel in a way. I approve of that. (Steve Jackson games, whatever) Wasted so much time on that back in the day. Always maxed out the salvage skill and went around murdering people for car parts. I just hope the developers load it up with tons of weaponry and chassis.

Game News Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace Slithers Out

I wish there were a computer version of the Arkham Horror board game. Kind of like Talisman. It'd be cool to throw together digital expansions and play it whenever.

    Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns Pre-Release Thread

Whatever city is chosen I hope they're wise enough to design this modularly. Then they can do expansions later with other cities.

Heroes of Might & Magic 6 Almost Revealed

I didn't care for V at first. The Tribes of the East expansion really made it a lot better though. It added so much more to the game that it really made it stand on its own. But there'd better be some real AI this time.

Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes English Version Released

What is considered the current leader of console strategy RPG's? I know Disgaea was the best of it's time, but that was quite a few years ago on the PS2. I guess I'm assuming they still play this genre on 360 or PS3. I ask this because this game peaks my interest in the genre again, even...

Why didn't PST sell as well as Baldurs Gate?

It wasn't that the box art was ugly (though it really was lousy) -- it was that you didn't know it was an RPG. Here's how an RPG cover is done. You've got the armed player/hero, menacing villains, and a fop hit by a magic arrow -- all ready to throw down in a swamp! Even with chainmail...

    Elemental Previewing & Gameplay Video

Very promising. Looks like exactly the type of game I like. Stardock usually gets the AI correct if I'm remembering right. I hope that's the case here too.
