  1. Wasteland Early Personal Reviews/Impressions

So I'm like 3 hours in, and does this game get better? It's been a linear crawl so far, minus the overworld map. All combat, with the occassional speech check to avoid a combat. Will there be hub zones and interesting quests after I slog through this, or is this it?
  2. Editorial Gamasutra against Ability Cooldowns

What about cooldowns paired with a MOTB-style spirit meter, or hunger system, or other time-based resource? Also, if your spells are more creative than "do damage" there's tons of situations where you need cooldowns for spells. Even big heals and revives wouldn't really work without some sort...
  3. Wing Commander Saga

How did I miss that patch. I checked their website this afternoon. Anyway, liking it so far, but the levels feel a bit formulaic so far, but I'm only a few levels in so I hope that's gonna change.

  5. Might and Magic The Might and Magic Discussion Thread

So... are MM8 and 9 worth playing? I just played MM6 and 7. And how does Arx Fatalis fare? I haven't played Stonekeep or Lands of Lore, either, but I've never been a fan of grid RPGs.
  6. Anno 1404/Dawn of Discovery

I played 1602 as a kid. As long as you ignore the combat aspects of the game, it was a lot of fun. I don't think I ever actually played the combat, though, so it's not a big deal. I've been meaning to pick up the sequels, but never got a chance. It's good to hear 1404 is decent. I'll try to...
  7. Activision kills King's Quest: The Silver Lining

What exactly do you mean by "lose the rights?" Do you mean they'd legally lose the rights, or just implicitly?
  8. Arcanum on GoG

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but i didn't think it was worth making a new topic for this. My NPCs are automatically picking up items. For example, Gar decided he wanted a 5000 weight block in ashbury. How/Can I stop them?
  9. X-Com and Freedom Force - $2 on Steam

Just bought X-Com, and I already own Freedom Force. Excellent price. Any suggestions on which X-Com games I should play? Also, the Freedom Force pack is also on sale for $2. As an avid comic book fan, these are probably my favorite games of all time.
  10. Games for people with next to no time to play games

Diablo, Torchlight, Divine Divinity, Titan Quest, and other ARPGs can be played for 20 minutes or so, every few days. This way they stay fresh... Anyway, that's what I've been doing since I started college. Quake Live and Freespace 2 can be fun too.
  11. What shitty MMO do you keep coming back to?

Guild Wars. Well, I don't consider it that shitty, but there's really no goals, since relatively good loot is easy to get, and from there, it's just differences in appearance. But I love the art style, so I come back every now and then.
  12. Games in Creative Settings!

I'll second Freedom Force x1000. I really like comics, so this is a top game for me. Also, I haven't played this, but Aztaka is supposed to be an RPG-Platformer hybrid or something, in an Aztec setting.
  13. Games in Creative Settings!

Some that haven't been mentioned... Pirates! (I'm actually surprised by how few games are in this period) Beneath A Steel Sky Evil Genius Ghost Master
  14. Favroite setting in an rpg?

I'll say steampunk, since i have a steampunk craze like a typical jrpg fanboy. But what i'd really like to see is more RPGs in less traditional ancient times, i.e. Greece, Rome, Persia, Babylon, China, Feudal Japan, Egypt, etc. And spaghetti Western RPGs. There's a wealth of untapped...
