Never understood the appeal in these let's plays. For me following a guy playing a game via picture-narrative on a message board equates watching a video with someone masturbating to internet porn in front of a web cam.

I got fired up to play a game of X-Com after watching a few episodes of that LP and I got base attack murdered on January 12th without the battleship even getting detected (so I could have scrapped the interceptor hangers to make the base defense possible). Plus a quarter of my squad was entombed in a disconnected room :?

But m-m-my X-Com dick...

Okay, the Phantasmagoria 2 LP gets pretty hilarious once the guy stops improvising.

The game, on the other hand, is incredibly horrible.

I gotta say, though, I really like Spoony's LP of Phantasmagoria. It's like when you're really gone and you experience weird shit only you're an american nerd, it's pretty beautiful

Another heads up, Necroscope's done an LP of Bad Mojo!

Bad Mojo is a computer game by Pulse Entertainment, released in 1996. The player is cast as Roger Samms, an entomologist planning to embezzle money from a research grant to escape his sordid life above an abandoned bar. An accident with his mother's enchanted locket unleashes the bad mojo, turning him into a cockroach.

I don't like watching LPs. Most of the time the guys doing it have horrible fucking voices. Give me the Codexian LPs anyday.

Screenshot runs aren't a Codex invention, if that's what you're implying.

To me it's a way of experiencing a a game without having to deal with annoying bullshit (grinding, for example). Using your analogy, it's like watching porn without having to do the whacking myself (it's still not like sex / playing the game, but it suffices)

Game Horder

Just found out about this guy yesterday, he does a load of the old DOS games and there's quite a few I don't recognise, check out his 'completed' list. Currently enjoying the Sherlock Homes: Serrated Scalpel. I like this guy a lot, not for his commentary but for his choice of games and the fact he reads the dialogue out loud and with a different voice for each character. He has just done an LP of Planescape Fully. Voice. Acted.

I see/watch LP's because of either the humor or the game is old as fuck and with heavy focus on plot... or just to study or have a look at the game

Anyway, thanks for the DP LPs, really wanted to see more of this game

a shame it's not out on the ps2, though

Only a little update but if you aren't aware, there's a hilarious mini-LP of Bloodlines by a guy who takes on a persona of the main character, kind of similar to to the Half Life Freeman's Mind LP. Anyway it's great stuff, only 5 videos so it won't take up too much of your time.

Not an LPer but a walkthrougher of adventure games. He doesn't go in blind and knows what he's doing so you can just enjoy the game as it unfolds.

Currently watching Black Dahlia, one of the few FMV games that are actually good and it stars Dennis Hopper. Also watching Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Rose Tattoo, another FMV game which has a great script, check him out.

Hardly everyone does the kind of LP's I like to see. Strategy game where everything turns into horrid shit due to the inept LP'er getting hit with everything the game can throw at him and slowly breaking down. It's entertaining.

Root succeeded with his Crusader Kings LP here. Most others only show their glorious patch to victory. Fuck their masturbatory bull.

You'd enjoy my games, then. A pattern of consistent tactical skill managing to compensate for growing strategic ineptitude until eventually over expansion leads to tactical defeats long after my strategic doom was sealed.

Maybe I should make an LP.

This definitively deserves to be directly linked in this thread now that the odds of this game having a finished LP in RPGCodex is for all practical purposes 0%. And the best part of it is the lack of a retarded voice over a shitty mic to make watching this cringeworthy*

And here the other parts:

Past this point SV stereotypically stopped for reals.

*Of course voice acting may cause a similar reaction

Problem, Stereotypical Villain?

Did you miss my first Let's Play in Magna Mundi where Serbia, despite of decades of map painting and preparation for it, still ended totally defeated by the Ottoman Empire?

http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/eu3-magna-mundi-serbia-strong-remove-kebab.74175/

Another one that ended in defeat(not literally a game over screen, but as in the game becoming so frustrating I couldn't stand it anymore), the Jerusalem one in an alternate history scenario where they ended de facto defeated by endless rebels doomstacks and more than once were almost crushed by the Byzantine Empire, usually only getting a peace deal that doesn't involve ceding territory to the Byzantine Empire with lots of difficulty, while I did a totally shoddy management of inflation that caused them to be perpetually backwards in all tech fields, as if being outnumbered wasn't bad enough by itself. It features moments like Jerusalem being ganged by an enormous Scandinavia-Georgia as Superpower(for reals) coalition and barely making it through thanks to a lucky naval battle. I'd say it was a perfect combination of almost total success in warfare with almost total failure in stability/inflation/rebels management: a reenactment of an empire over-expanding and collapsing.

Prisoner of Ice is one of those 'good art, bad gameplay' adventures.
I remember it getting slammed so hard in reviews, no surprise, the puzzles are terrible.
