Shepard triumphed over the Sovereign assault on the Citadel, at a great cost: the Council members made up of the turian, asari and salarian councilor were lost when the Ascension, the Citadel flagship was destroyed. Shepard called this a necessary sacrifice and even confessed that he made this choice to bring humanity into a larger role in the galaxy.

ME0956.jpg

Under a human Council, the galaxy is about to take an extreme turn. A harsh universe where 'whatever it takes to survive' is the main motto. A dark universe is born.

But what if...things were different?

ME0959.jpg

What if the hero possess a gentler touch than its extreme counterpart?

Capt. Anderson : Military service runs in the family. Both her parents were in the navy.

Admiral Hackett : She proved herself during the Blitzt. Held off enemy forces on the ground until reinforcements arrived.

Capt. Anderson : She's the only reason Elysium is still standing.

Ambassador Udina : We can't question her courage.

Watch, as the Mass Effect universe unfolds...differently.

Why is that in EVERY Bioware game ever made the protagonist is some gifted hero praised by everyone? How hard would it to make an alternative? This course of this storytelling is incredibly outdated and juvenile.

RK47, you sure are crazy. Dibs on the LPs, though. Go, go, go, I desire alien lesbian sex. Or maybe try to hit on the soldier-girl, if she's into it.

Well, KotoR was a bit different, in that you were actually a gifted villain feared by everyone, but yeah...they definitely have a Chosen One complex going on in most, if not all of their games. The NWN series might be the big exception, but I honestly don't remember the story too clearly so maybe it was the same then, too.

Your ignore list.
In NWN's OC you were a student at the neverwinter academy that survived the attack and were given a small task by Aribitch. She was impressed by your deeds and allowed asked for your help to recover the waterduh creatures. Now on why weren't you given help by other students or subject to a more experienced hero's orders I do not know, most likely because the OC had no structure at all anyways.

On the expansions, you begin as the most promissing student of master whatwashisname, so you were given a task to save his life after he was poisoned and retrieve the stolen artifacts of asswhooping. Then, following into the second expansion, you continue your quests after entering the plane of shadows to save your butt. On that expansion you're considered a hero due to your deeds on the previous expansion so nearly everyone praises you.

So yes, NWN doesn't exactly follows the same cliche, but you're the most promising student/hero/whore every time. But considering that only HotU had a marginal development in story, it's not that considerable.

Bah, wrong gender for playing paragon. The female PC delivers those EXTREME renegade options much better than the male one. Well, I guess it won't matter for the purpose of reading an LP ;)

PS: please make sure most of this LP contains ass-shots of the PC.

Bloodlines will forever be remembered for its Boob-PhysX, and Mass Effect for having one of the better PC asses in gaming history.

This. Something has to make up for the lack of EXTREME! storytelling.

Also, hot lesbian intercourse FTW. Is good.

I actually want to see Kaidan's version of "wow Shepard that was incredible" - like, do they try to make him see more manly, or more like your character just melted his brain? I could frankly be convinced of either, from how Bioware's written romances in the past.

...even though I'm certain Kaidan's ass won't be as nice as Liara's. These are the sacrifices we make.

What is this for a shit? Are you daft, woman, if we're going to go ahead and sacrifice the ass-action then all we're left with is the game, and who'd want that?

Carth 9-12, Liara's leading. It's closer than I thought. Update incoming soon.

Also: Only unlock I'm using is Vanguard's Barrier for Infiltrator class. Seems the game's a little harder now on Hardcore difficulty.

I nod to your point, but I honestly am curious about how they attempt to spin the "romantic" language. Bioware - ok, I'll say it, PRETTY MUCH ALL RPGs have crappy romances for the female characters, or the dialogue is pretty LOL WUT or both.

And also, well hey, maybe Kaidan's ass is NICER that Liara's. WE DON'T KNOW. It is the great unknown.

...HORRIBLE MASS EFFECT PORN DOES NOT COUNT IN THIS REGARD. I am at the very least hoping for none of that in this thread, which means in about 2 posts maximum those same hopes will be dashed. Thus, the Codex remains the Codex.

Meanwhile the male characters get AMAZING romances.

I wanted to crazy Ivan the ship into a black hole when Liara started to act all hot and flustered.

And no, thats not a euphemism.

But I see your point.

Hell yeah.

Looking forward to see if you avoided making a real ugly female PC, which seems an impossiblity with this Oblivion-esque character creation system.

Joker : Besides, Spectres are trouble. I don't like having him on board. Call me paranoid.

Kaidan : You're paranoid. The Council helped fund this project. They have a right to send someone to keep an eye on their investment.

ME0968.jpg

Shepard : They don't send Spectres on shakedown runs.

Joker : So there's more going on here than the Captain's letting on.

Anderson (intercom) : Joker ! Status Report.

Joker : Just cleared the mass relay, Captain. Stealth systems engaged. Everything looks solid.

Anderson : Good. Find a comm buoy and link us into the network. I want mission reports relayed back to Alliance brass before we reach Eden Prime.

Joker : Aye, aye, Captain. Better brace yourself, sir. I think Nihlus is headed your way.

Anderson : He's already here, Lieutenant. Tell Commander Shepard to meet me in the comm room for a debriefing.

ME0969.jpg

Much like the Extreme Universe of Mass Effect, Nihlus warned Shepard of possible dangers that humanity will face. The mission in Eden Prime is the same, recovery of the Prothean artifact that holds high technological value.

ME0970.jpg

ME0971.jpg

Her candidacy for a human Spectre is revealed as well. Nihlus will evaluate her performance in the next mission of Eden Prime.

ME0972.jpg

But we knew better. Some things remain unchanged even in alternate universe.

ME0973.jpg

Like the rise of evil itself.

ME0974.jpg

ME0976.jpg

And the battle begins anew. Man against Machine.

ME0977.jpg

This universe's Shepard values her men more than her Extreme Counterpart.

Shepard arrives to lend her aid to Gunnery Chief Williams. Both met under the same circumstances in the Extreme Universe.

ME0990.jpg

Ashley : A few scrapes and burns. Nothing serious. The others weren't so lucky. We tried to get off a distress signal, but they cut off our communications. I've been fighting for my life ever since.

Shepard : Where's the rest of your squad?

Ashley : We tried to double back to the beacon. But we walked into an ambush.

ME0991.jpg

Shepard : This isn't your fault, Williams. You couldn't have done anything to save them.

Ashley : Yes, ma'am. We held our position as long as we could. Until the geth overwhelmed us.

Kaidan : The geth haven't been outside the Veil in nearly 200 years. Why are they here now?

Ashley : They must have come for the beacon. The dig site is close. Just over that rise. It might still be there.

Shepard : We could use your help, Williams.

Ashley : Aye, aye, ma'am. It's time for payback.

ME0992.jpg

Kaidan : By who? Our side? Or the geth?

Ashley : Hard to say. Maybe we'll know more after we check out the research camp.

ME0993.jpg

The research camp was abandoned, except for a pair of scientists who were locked up in their room.

ME0994.jpg

Dr. Warren : Thank you. I think we'll be okay now. It looks like everyone's gone.

Ashley : You're the one in charge of the excavation. Do you know what happened to the beacon?

Dr. Warren : It was moved to the spaceport this morning. Manuel and I stayed behind to help pack up the camp. When the attack came, the marines held them off long enough for us to hide. The gave their lives to save us.

Dr. Manuel : No one is saved. The age of humanity is ended. Soon, only ruin and corpses will remain.

Shepard : What's wrong with your assistant?

Dr. Warren : Manuel has a brilliant mind, but he's always been a bit...unstable. Genius and madness are two sides of the same coin.

ME0995.jpg

You may wonder why Manuel turned out this way. It is possible that he interacted with the Beacon, and received the same visions of the Reapers. It may lead to a mental breakdown to lesser minds hence Manuel turned into a raving lunatic after witnessing the visions.

Shepard : Williams, take us to the spaceport.

Another loss awaits them in their next destination.

ME0996.jpg

Surprise, followed with relief that he had found a fellow Spectre. Nihlus let his guard down. Only slightly.

ME0997.jpg

ME0998.jpg

A touch on his shoulder, and Nihlus relaxed.

ME0999.jpg

He left his back open.

ME1000.jpg

A fatal error.

I admire your courage, playing it twice in such a short timespan. I hope you've got a life-insurance, just in case.

Hmmm, not the best of faces to come out of ME's face gen, really.

I also immediately find myself doubting how much the LPs will differ anyway considering how linear ME is. This isn't going to be a constant "like in the extreme version" flashback sequence is it?

Oh please. I can count the male character romances that are decent on one hand (Planescape: Torment and...uh...uhhhhhh...errrr...).

The fact is we're just no as demanding. Flash us a bit of cleavage or a nice arse and we'll be convinced we just went through a fascinating bit of romantic development because in the male psycho T&A = romance. It's not like the writing is better, it's just more adapted to male adolescents.

Actually, I don't think it's Kaiden's...but Shepard's. Bioware knows their audience well.

So go for Carth to see if that's true.
