I'm sorry, but locking out slavers is GAY. Real men fight with unlocked doors.

Yeah? Two melee, both of them idiots, you want them chasing after big men with guns taking pot shot from afar? Who is idiot now?

Sure you wanna head to the Toxic Caves (of Doom)? Might be a short LP if you do.
But it probably will be anyway.

Chapter 3: The Toxic Caves of Doom!!!!!

fallout22011-04-1914-50-53-23.jpg

Paco and Sulik get ready hto head out into the wastes to look for Smiley.

fallout22011-04-1914-51-15-51.jpg

Just a short hop away.

fallout22011-04-1914-52-05-73.jpg

In the cave we find Geckos.

fallout22011-04-1914-52-39-01.jpg

Boots on to protect from the slime.

fallout22011-04-1914-52-58-23.jpg

As always the key to surviving is to fight one Gecko at a time.

fallout22011-04-1914-56-02-33.jpg

fallout22011-04-1914-56-55-55.jpg

I case you are wondering - Fighting one Gecko at a time is tedious as hell.

fallout22011-04-1914-58-06-93.jpg

Some phat loot.

fallout22011-04-1914-59-44-50.jpg

Last Gecko dead - time to go down.

fallout22011-04-1915-00-33-05.jpg

Same strategy - One Gecko at a time.

fallout22011-04-1915-03-05-17.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-03-12-60.jpg

We level up. Dumped all points in melee. Oh yeah - We're radiated.

fallout22011-04-1915-05-42-32.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-06-51-62.jpg

Last healing powder. I really don't want to have to start using stimpacks.

fallout22011-04-1915-10-25-36.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-10-01-35.jpg

Did I mention how tedious it is fighting one gecko at a time?

fallout22011-04-1915-10-55-31.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-11-01-28.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-11-04-86.jpg

And away we go.

fallout22011-04-1915-12-19-19.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-12-26-42.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-12-48-75.jpg

Back to Klamath.

fallout22011-04-1915-13-13-16.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-13-15-51.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-13-27-26.jpg

Well aren't I a high achiever.

fallout22011-04-1915-15-35-92.jpg

We head south to hunt some Gecko.

fallout22011-04-1915-23-50-96.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-24-31-53.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-28-13-76.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-31-25-58.jpg

We then trade the skins for some healing powder and cash.

Time to head into the wild.

Next - An update that cannot possible be more boring than this one was.

Chapter 4: All good things...

fallout22011-04-1915-55-06-51.jpg

We have no locations on our map and I cannot remember where anything is so we head East.

fallout22011-04-1915-55-34-29.jpg

Why not.

fallout22011-04-1915-55-40-97.jpg

Hmmm.

fallout22011-04-1915-56-09-08.jpg

Ok. 25 points of damage on the first shot. We still got this though. When my turn comes around I will take a few stimpacks and run.

fallout22011-04-1915-56-14-10.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-56-16-67.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-56-18-79.jpg

fallout22011-04-1915-56-21-47.jpg

I think there were some lessons learned here.

fallout22011-04-1915-56-30-20.jpg

WTF - I didn't even get a cool death pic! Just a black screen and someone telling me my village starved to death.

Well that's it for Paco: Idiot of the Wasteland.

Next - Paco: Evil Genius of the Wasteland!

Wow, dude, no offense meant, but your build sucks. Well, ok, I guess it's predictable if you play this stuff for the second time in your life, but all in all, it's an awful choice for a hard ironman. And it's not because you're a melee fighter - that's fine, my own to ironman runs were as a hand-to-hand specialist and cold weapons specialist(nothing feels better than taking out a cave full of SMG wielding bandits with just a spear), when you do it right, you become a real popamoling machine, it's especially good for unarmed in RP since they fixed that bloody armor counter. But it's all about your other stats - 8 strength is way too much (4 is enough, however strange does it sound), 4 pe is too little (you need at least 8 or 6+kamikaze; yeah, you'll never be shooting but it's insanely important for your continuous survival to have your turn before your enemies so you need to have a high combat order), 8 en is fine, 8 ch... Well, if you have that RP option of taking direct control of your party members, then it may have some merit. It's a bad combo with low int, though, social matter speaking. 3 in - well, if you want to be an idiot which is fun in it's own kind of way... But it is an awful combo with gifted, really, you either go for low int or gifted. 8 ag - doable, but you really want 10. 8 luck - overexcessive, all you'll ever need is 6 for the better critical perk. Oh, and I always tag the doctor at ironman because 150 free experience after each combat makes your leveling really, really easier (though with 3 int and gifted any tags besides melee is of zero importance).

Also, as my first perk I would've taken stonewall here - yeah, that shittiest shit that no one even considers. Practice shows that when you get far in the game, the only thing that can kill you is an armor ignoring, knocking out critical for like 150 damage. And while the damage is quite survivable with high EN and lifegiver perks, you can't do much against knock outs - once my power armored chosen were gnawed to his death by fire geckos (a cavern variety, to further the humiliation). Yeah, they just have knocked out him and then slowly, but steadily beat all of his 200 hit points out of him. And similar things have happened with couple of my other chars, though in more fashionable ways like a mutant rocket. etc. Knock-out usually equals death in ironman.

Well. it's not like anything of this will be helpful to you at this point, but maybe if you'll die and will have enough endurance to start again...

Insert clever insult here
Too many and too big screenshots. Don't bother taking shots of meaningless stuff - like battle-pictures. Maybe have one when battle begins and then second after. The pics from between don't really convey anything.

That build was fine for ants, rats and geckos, but it was always going to bite you in the ass as soon as more than one man with a gun showed up. Should've run from that random encounter, even your initial placement was very good.

Also I admire the idea for a build, but 10 AG is really necessary if you want to do a lot of fighting.

Indeed.

I enjoyed the fool's death, though. I'll probably enjoy the smartass' death as well.

Yes, yes it did. See my earlier comment on being slightly drunk when creating this char. It's been many years since I played FO2 and I never played an idiot or melee char before. So of course it was quit tragic when Paco ran into that band of highwaymen.

Next time.

There is one:

Know when to fight and when to flight.

Yes, Idiot Paco's death was a real tragedy. I saw pretty early that Paco #1 was boned.

Vaarna_Aarne said:

True, too much annoying Genius Lighting Bruiser powerbuilds.

I would like to see more interesting builds, like Lone Snipers or Diplomats.

I would also DARE anybody to Ironman a thief. Yes, a thief. Good luck.

I'll Ironman a thief. Yes I will. Not yet though.

Totally agree with you. Less shots coming up. Maybe even none.

Already have another char going who has gotten farther than Idiot Paco. Not that particular build though.

Al in all - :salute:

The limitations of my build became very apparent early on. When you have a melee char and it's hard to melee ants and gecko's you know you’re in trouble.

Click to choose: Yes

You wanted this LP to end. Admit it. :/

Lies! Lies and slander!

Death, near death - it’s all good.

Paco prefers larger ones. It's the same with his BGT LP. We can only guess the reasons.

It's almost as if I'm compensating for something...

I play in 1280x800 (native resolution for my display is 1680x1050) because I hate plying in windowed mode. I suppose I could resize the pics but I tend to be a lazy bastard about that sort of thing. What you need to do gostdog is take all the royalties you have made from your PS:T UI and invest in a larger display.

I kid I kid - What would you suggest for screen sizes?

Don't worry - more death incoming.

Anyway I have an Evil Genius build going now. The problem is I’ve never played the RP before and an idiot doesn’t actually get to see much of it. And on the plus side I get to randomly shoot people and screw over townsfolk while being evil. Not decided on the slaver deal yet though.

After EG Paco bites it I am going for an unarmed combat Paco. Update later to day if I can get out of work at a reasonable time. Right now doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

And far, far less screens. Just quest completions, near death misses, and interesting conversation options.

Do you have a spare CRT you can use? Because lowering the resolution further while playing on a large LCD will be pretty nasty. I would think that 800*600 would be neat for the purpose of an LP.

My home screen is much bigger than your puny pics thank you very much :smug: ...but my screen at work, isn't :(

Nevertheless I think that the flow of the chapter goes much better if the pics aren't too big. ABout 800x600 would be good.

When I last replayed the Fallouts I also had a 1680x1050 screen but I found that playing it in a big resolution made the game look weird sometimes, especially if you were at a small area. So I re-installed the resolution patch at 848x480 and had a blast.
