beloved series

Two entries in the Codex top 70 means it's a beloved series. Now go play with your Gold Box or whatever it is you boomers enjoy.

what makes BG3 give negative feels on codex?
>Castrated and badly adapted ruleset
>Cringeworthy soft porno

Something like that.
Sounds like BG alright.

Seriously, though, the only change they've made so far is how every combat maneuver is a bonus action for everyone instead of only for Rogues. Which is retarded of course, but there you go. They reverted the changes to the cantrips. If you want to play a 100% faithful adaptation, play Solasta until they either fix BG3 or mods are available for the full release. I wouldn't recommend Solasta in its current state, though, as it's very easy.

Because it is a shitty attempt at milking of the Divinity Original Sin engine by exploiting a classic franchise's recognition.
According to Swen, Larian approached WotC for the Baldur's Gate license before working on D:OS2, but they got turned down. So I guess that they were actually milking the BG3 engine when they released D:OS2.

Is the game worth a shot if one is not particularly a fan of BG and forgets the title and the baggage that comes with it?

At the current state in EA? I'd say no, wait for more time until they reveal more and we get an idea of whatever the fuck Swen is planning for the game balance wise and combat. So far is funky on the regard also is missing some classes that might be more of your taste.

It's just fucking boring. That's really all there is to it. I have no specific complaints. It's just painfully generic fantasy tropes.

Because it genuinely does look awful.

Things which stood out to me were the OTT colourful/bright graphics, and the fact it took absolutely ages to complete a puzzle & battle in the live demos they showed.

It looks bad, and in no way a worthy successor to the first games.

Hope I'm wrong mind.

That's the sole reason. This game is D:OS 3 in everything but the name, a shameless attempt at resurrecting a legendary RPG franchise.

I wouldn't call it shameless, more like obviously different, while the only thing shameless is the fans thinking it is a real sequel.
the things DoS have that make it hugely different from BG is the chapter based progression compared to the free roam of BG1&2.
IDK if BG3 will have the same structure (i have about 4 hours in) but I hope it doesn't, not because it is bad, but because it is an inherently different experience compared to the classics.

Oh sure, I’m not going to pay full price over betatesting privileges.

I more meant does feel like it’s becoming something.

Will wait for full release before getting it. Hopefully it releases after Pathfinder WotR so it gives me plenty of time to complete that first.

I don't hate, I can't wait. I'm not going to play until it's out of early access though. In the meantime I'm playing through the Beamdog Enhanced editions including SOD to get ready for it.

I liked a lot about bg3 but hated maybe even more about it. I got no illusions that things I hate are going to be fixed/changed. Some of those issues are DnD 5 related but most of those are usual larian design decisions, including but not limited to exactly the same graphic as in the previous 2 games(induces not so pleasant flashbacks). BUT the product is not ready to be consumed and rated, yet.

RPGs in the 2020s in a nutshell
Funny how Larian is the only even remotely AA/AAA developer in the genre to boot
we might as well convert to necromancy because there is no life left in the hobby

These days I can't even be arsed to play 'average' games, I mean, it doesn't have to be shit, even if it's just average I'm bored and uninterested.

It is a shameless cash-grab by people with no investment in the core of the series. What do you think?

It honestly doesn't matter what kind of game series we're talking about, or what "baggage" comes attached. Cash-grabs and "reimaginings" of this type are literally never good. It doesn't matter if it is Fallout or Baldur's Gate.
