Why all JRPGs start the same way?

Most RPGs don't have critical successes nearly as epic in their outcome tables.
It's a shame the game didn't sell that well. I want a sequel damn it :(

Septerra Core was another attempt at a western JRPG the results vary allot.
Never heard of it before. Had a look and it seems... intriguing. Care to elaborate on why the results vary?

"SMT nocturne starts with you walking into a train station into a modern city street as the world ends."

It actually began with the character waking up as the train approachs the station. The small introductory scene where you give him a name and Yuko makes a question or two is suposed to be a dream.

Septerra core is interesting. ATB system for combat, each character has unique special skills in addition to using items and combining magic cards to release spells (basically, final fantasy 6). The robo dog for example can shoot a beam from his mouth and hit all the enemies on its path. He can also steal from stores.

It also has a killer robot as party member

Game can be kinda hard at times, but is generally normal-easy

It's basically a generic JRPG with an even crappier battle system.
That's not "results vary", that's "game is shit" ;)
