What do you feel was the best entry in each Sierra game series, and why?
King's Quest VI is a fucking duh and I'll retardo anyone who says otherwise.
Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail
Space Quest V
King's Quest VI
Quest for Glory IV
Police Quest II
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father
Manhunter 2
Phantasmagoria 2
Conquests of the Longbow
The Colonel's Bequest
Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail
Space Quest V
King's Quest VI
Quest for Glory IV
Police Quest II
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father
Yeah pretty much. Might go Space Quest IV for the narration alone.
Manhunter 2
Phantasmagoria 2
Conquests of the Longbow
The Colonel's Bequest
Any of these worth playing today? I haven't touched any of these series at all.
Space Quest IV
Man, you are just... sheesh. To be honest, QFG is a series I struggle with. I want to like it, and QFG3 is a great game, the problem is, the first QFG game I played was IV, and it struck me as really cheesy and rushed (The badly recorded voices, the voices not matching with the text on screen, etc), and it sort of turned me off to getting into the rest of the series for a long time. It seems to be the series people love the most and I wish I had played III first.
It wasn't really a "normal" fantasy land, it's just that it draws from much of the same roots as the "normal" fantasy land does: It was a decidedly Germanic fantasy land more so than the Tolkeinesque ones that modern "generic" fantasy is based on, but since these ultimately draw from the same roots, they have distinct similarities.IThe first quest for glory looked like a "normal" fantasy land. Which is not to say it had nothing to make it unique, but in the end its themes are all over the place, which puts it at a disadvantage.
True, I guess I always just thought of them as Sierra games for some reason. I still maintain that they're shit though, although I agree that the atmosphere is pretty good. I liken them to Codename: ICEMAN in that it's an interesting concept let down by some baffling design decisions and obnoxiously finicky arcade sequences.IIRC Manhuter wasn't developed by Sierra, just published by them.
Anyway, I've only played the first one and I can say it has unique atmosphere and that I liked it a lot, despite some shortcomings.
