Good. That means the bad taste from Cutscene: The Cutscene Game will be even worse.

Just finished ordering the rest of the parts for my computer.

Got a 2500k and a 6950 that will unlock to a 6970. I haven't had a decent computer in years, so what recent games should I start not removing from inventory?

So far on my list:

Crysis
Metro 2033
Stalker: Call of Pripyat
Starcraft 2
Crysis 2?
Arma?

I picked up borderlands goty this morning for 7.50 off of steam

Anything else? I'm looking forward to twitcher 2 and bf3 obviously, but any recent games that I might be neglecting that are worth checking out now that I will get decent performance?
Leave it at Stalker: CoP and Arma2. And maybe Crysis if you want a dumb game with good graphics. The rest is shit. Some RPGs that are actually woth playing: Risen, Fallout: NV, Witcher (and probably Witcher 2 when it hits the shelves, so far it seems to be an incline over TW1).

Is stalker; clear sky worth getting? I loved the first one, but clear sky ran so atrociously that I couldn't finish.

Metro 2033 is an excellent game for :smug:'ing about your new hardware. When its DX11 features are enabled (or even when not), even though most of it takes place in tunnels and underground dark areas, there aren't many games anywhere that look as good.

It's also a decent shooter in its own right, but yes all the cutscenes and the relatively small maps get distracting at times.

Btw, the only games on that list worth playing are Call of Pripyat, Crysis 1 and maybe Metro 2033. The rest are all shit.

CS is the worst Stalker-game, but better than most other shooters out there. If you are going to play it, do yourself a favour and get the Complete mod. It fixes most of the game breaking bugs.

Congrats on your 2500K, btw. I installed my yesterday, partly because of your recommendation. :bro:

Eh, I'd put Borderlands ahead of Crysis, and I'm actually looking forward to TW2 and BF3 (though have a lot of reservations about the latter). As for ArmA, every time I walk into that thread Skyway makes me almost install it or OFP.

OFP is from the times when BIS had a real publisher and was held to actual standards and quality control.

Anyway ArmA is just porn for the militaryfags. You can tell because all they've improved since OFP are the graphics. Everything else is way worse.

Be sure to get as fast CPU as you can afford without much trade off for rest of components.

Dwarf Fortress eats CPU, and so does Virtual PC for those games that won't work otherwise.

Crysis 1 is only barely good until you hit the part with the aliens which is where Crytek went full retard and threw away all the elements that made the game fun until you get to that point, turning it into something more like a railshooter on acid.

Eh, I'd put Borderlands ahead of Crysis,
Borderlands ahead of Crysis ? A game that has absolutely no redeeming features can't be ahead of Crysis. Shitty RPG-like combat with shitguns, lack of actual story or interaction with the "world" (which would have made such a gameplay-lacking game more palatable), it's First Person Diablo for people under the grindistan spell of collectionnitis. The only gameplay to be found there is to collect l00t. Which is the most retarded kind of gameplay, ever.

I've already played through borderlands on ps3, but for 7.50 it was worth getting it to play with any of my friends on pc and also the dlcs.

Also, smart picking the 2500k. The 2600k is just silly at this point. I have already filled up this shitty hdd in preparation, and my external is formatted into fat32. Anyone know if I can resize the partition without losing all the shit I have on it? I want like 100 gigs of ntfs to slap all these huge isos I've downloaded. Or do yo think if I opened it up there would be a power port and a sata port that I could plug my 640 gig drive that is already ntfs into without voiding the warranty on the external?

I'd just copy whatever you have on there somewhere, format the entire drive into NTFS, then copy the stuff back. Borrow a friend's externl HD or something if you have to. Resizing on the fly I do not recommend.

I've always liked Partition Magic. But Sceptic is right -- resizing a partition without first backing up is a gamble. Might as well copy off, reformat, then copy back.

Worst case scenario, buy another 1 Tb drive, or even a 2 Tb one. My 2 Tb cost me under $100, the 1 Tb will be even cheaper. Worth the safety of not having to worry about the loss of your 650 Gb. And it can then act as a backup drive for all your ISOs.

I do not really get the hate for Metro 2033. It's not just one of the best FPS of the last years but also a very good game. Atmosphere and story are top notch, and it has a nice balance between exploration and combat — most of the game is linear but some levels have different routes to take, and you can always chose to sneak around hostile humans. Some of the weapons aren't your typical FPS fare either, where everything work flawlessly, and instead require you to pump or charge them to use them effectively — the headlight and night vision goggles use the same principle. And yeah, it has a good deal of cutscenes but they are nice to watch and do not get in the way of the action — heck, if you want to complain about cutscenes, take a lot at Metal Gear Solid 2.

I am just started a new playthrough of CoP on my new rig. I installed the CoP Complete mod, which primeraly gives you better graphics and sound. It looks and sounds amazing, and I really recommend you try it.
