<p>We're also allowing user's to upload their own images... provided you donate. We're not primarily an image hosting service so the gallery is designed more as a reward for those who donate - or a way for people to upload their riskier Let's Play images somewhere without having to worry about bandwidth limits or images going missing (if it's legal in the United States, it can be uploaded).</p>

This will be enabled for people that already donated? Or you have to donate specifically to activate the User Gallery?

Unless you've donated bucket loads of cash in the past ($20+), it'll have to be specific. Most donations are around the $10 mark and go towards ad-free time.

They can have 25 MB of space. You'll find your gallery under User Galleries.

Do we need to ask you first, before our user gallery is enabled/listed? I checked, but I did not see one for me? Just wondering.

Yes and you'll need to tell me how much you donated and when (and give me the e-mail address you donated from so I can hunt it down). We're treating ad-free and gallery donations as separate things, so if you've only ever donated $30 but it was over 2 years and you got two years ad-free, then no. But if you donated $50 and we only gave you a year ad-free for some reason or another, then sure.

I am trying to automate all that donation shit but I'm not there yet.

Well, how about this. How much do I need to donate to have:

1. My post count resseted to zero
2. A user gallery

Do the fact that I made the Petey emoticon can be used as a discount coupon of some sort?

It's really only designed for those instances where the images are unable to be uploaded to other services. Patron's can get it as a way of us saying thanks for giving us their money. Codex doesn't really have the bandwidth or HDD space for it to turn into an image host with 10,000+ user albums (though if that happened, we could buy the HDD and bandwidth easily enough but that wasn't the intent).

So, just to get this straight: If you donated $10 - $15 right now, then you'd get ads free for 6-12 months *plus* 50 MB to 75 MB permanently - or perhaps until given the paper bag treatment, or that thing Cleve was talking about? I figure the space is longer term or else what's the use if you don't intend to upload your tentacle porn collection, but no harm in asking if it'll expire sooner rather than later.

Or is this separate Codex ULC?

Separate Codex DLC.

Ad-Free is one thing. Gallery space is another. Unless you know, you donate the impressive sum of $15 and choose to have it split so that you get 6 months ad-free ($10) and 25 MB gallery space ($5).

Gallery
  • $5 USD (+25 MB space)
  • $10 USD (+50 MB space)
  • $15 USD (+75 MB space)
  • $25 USD (+125 MB space)
  • $50 USD (+250 MB space)
Gallery space, once bought, is permanent. Forever. Images will never be deleted by us (you can of course, delete your own images and upload something else if you're so inclined). Note the + literally means you buy more space. So if you donated $5 today, and then $5 tomorrow, you'd get 25 MB today + another 25 MB of space tomorrow. So you can get more gallery space when you need to.

Ad-Free
  • $10 USD (+6 Months ad-free)
  • $15 USD (+1 Year ad-free)
  • $25 USD (+2 Years ad-free)
  • $35 USD (+3 Years ad-free)
  • $50 USD (+5 Years ad-free)
Ad-Free expires because we're cash whores.

At the moment, it's a bit manual. So if Timmy donates $50 and he wants 2 years ad-free ($25) and 125 MB Gallery space ($25), he'll have to let us know when we talk to him via PM / when he donates and enters his message. For the three people that donate though, it's not a huge impost to deal with (I'll ask you "BRO YOU DONATED. WHAT'S IT FOR BRO. DO YOU WANT SOME HOOKERS OR SOMETHING!?"). Eventually we will have an automated page where you'll just tick what you want and it'll deliver it for you but meh, I spent too much time on the gallery as it is, so that'll come later.

Yeah, we deliberately didn't want to go down the Something Awful path where people are paying to have others dumbfucked / get avatars / etc...
