<p><a href="http://www.thq.com/" target="_blank" title="THQ">THQ</a>, <a href="http://www.gamesworkshop.com/" target="_blank" title="GW">Games Workshop</a>, and <a href="http://www.vigilgames.com/" target="_blank" title="Vigil">Vigil Games</a> are putting their heads together for an MMO in the <a href="http://www.dawnofwargame.com/homepage.php" target="_blank" title="WH40K">Warhammer 40,000</a> universe. <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6166560.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6166560" target="_blank" title="Gamespot article">Gamespot</a> has the scoop:</p><blockquote><p>Today, the two publishers are announcing an extension to their licensing agreement to work together on new projects, including a Warhammer 40,000 massively multiplayer online game. The first hints at such a project <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162423.html">came last November</a>, when Relic Entertainment, developer of the Warhammer 40,000 real-time strategy series, posted a want ad for MMOG developers. As it turns out, though, another studio--Austin, Texas-based Vigil Games, will be working on the new project, which should not be confused with the swords-and-sorcery MMORPG, <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/warhammeronline/index.html">Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning</a>. </p></blockquote><p>It's a little strange that <a href="http://www.relic.com/" target="_blank" title="Relic">Relic</a> is being left out of this obvious money tree since they're the ones mainly responsible for making WH40K such a hot property in the video game world. </p><p>Spotted @ <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/">Shack News</a></p>

Maybe relic already got first refusal of the pitch and ended up deciding against it?

I'd be happier with more good Warhammer SP strategy games. MMOGs don't really do it for me.

Battlefleet gothic (eve style) or some kind of fps?

But GW better make their mind up, i can't see the kiddies playing this and paying for their shitty tabletop game, plus spending a fortune on their even shitter plastic models. (lead 4 life)

Edit: Then again, i wouldn't be surprised if relic were making a battlefleet gothic title like their homeworld games. The video at the end of dark crusade sorta suggested their next game would involve space/multiple worlds.
