A war game is fun due to the options in strategery involved, dick for brains. You don't play the fucking game to root for someone.
American Civil War is 100% the worst game setting imaginable. It's difficult to emphasise enough that nobody outside the US gives a shit about your civil war obsession.

Of course you play the game to root for someone. It's a simulation of a real period of history, you can learn about and participate in that important event. If you are only here for strategy or tactics, with no higher purpose or interest, then you are the one with dick for brains.
Go play chess or solve maths problems in longform for a few hours instead, you subhuman idiot.
As for civil war, it's one of if not the best setting for strategy because there were so many interesting battles.
Lol. You really don't know shit do you?
Brtis have long played ACW wargames for the tabletop variety.

Civil war is a great setting for a thread where everybody attacks everybody.
Yes, but very few of the innovations actually made it to the battlefield during the war. They only became more numerous after the war. The biggest impact of technology was the rifled barrel used by the Union forces en mass. The Confederates were using Enfield smooth bore muskets that lacked the accurate range in comparison to the Springfield Rifle used by the Union.
